Its strategy is to draw into the Snivy evolution line, get Serperior’s Grass Energy ability into play, and use Celebi ex’s coin-flip attack for damage. Serperior can increase the Energy counted by that attack, but the result still depends on coin flips.
The official 20-card deck list
The Pokémon Company International published this list on 18 December 2024 in its Celebi ex Deck List Strategy guide. It is best treated as the guide’s starting build rather than a tested October 2026 recommendation.

How the Celebi ex–Serperior interaction works
Celebi ex’s Powerful Bloom flips coins based on the Grass Energy attached to Celebi ex, and each heads adds damage. Serperior’s Jungle Totem ability makes each Grass Energy count twice for Grass Pokémon. That means Serperior can increase how many coins Powerful Bloom flips; it does not make the attack’s damage certain. The Pokémon Company explains this synergy in its Mythical Island top cards guide.
The deck therefore has two jobs to complete: establish Serperior and build an attacker. Serperior is a Stage 2, so the list includes two copies each of Snivy, Servine, and Serperior. The guide does not guarantee a particular turn for that evolution line to come together.

How to play the list
- Find cards and develop the board. Use Professor’s Research and Meowth’s Pay Day to draw cards, following the official guide’s stated plan.
- Work toward Serperior. Develop the Snivy line through Servine so Jungle Totem can support your Grass attackers.
- Build Celebi ex as an attacker. Attach Grass Energy and use Powerful Bloom when you are ready to rely on its coin-flip damage.
- Use Dhelmise as another attacking option. The official guide names it as a secondary attacker, giving the list an alternative to relying only on Celebi ex.
What to change if you are missing cards
The December 2024 Pokémon guide suggests Exeggutor ex as a substitute when Serperior or Dhelmise is missing. It describes Exeggutor ex as an attacker that can begin attacking with little Energy, potentially leaving Energy available to attach to a Benched Celebi ex before promoting it. In that approach, the guide says the two Meowth slots can be replaced with Erika, Potion, or Farfetch’d. These are suggestions from that guide, not evidence of universally better or currently tested substitutions.
When weighing a different build, consider which part of the strategy it changes:
- Evolution consistency: Does the list still have a workable path to Serperior?
- Early setup: Can it attack while Serperior is being developed?
- Damage variance: Does it add an attacker that is less dependent on Celebi ex’s coin flips, or does it retain Dhelmise as a backup?
The available official guide describes the original list and its suggested substitutions, but does not report controlled comparisons between variants.

The available results do not establish a reliable current win rate or tier position for Celebi ex and Serperior. A Dittobase tournament listing showed one variant with a 3–7–0 record, last played 29 September 2026; that is an individual record, not a population-level result (Dittobase deck listing). A separate PocketCards.net listing showed 31.8% for Celebi ex/Serperior but did not provide a sample size or date window in the available page information (PocketCards.net competitive decks). Neither figure is enough on its own to support a broad current-performance claim.
