What is flOw?
flOw is an aquatic-organism game created by Jenova Chen and Nicholas Clark as part of Chen’s thesis research. You guide an organism through a surreal underwater biosphere, consume other organisms, evolve, and move deeper into the abyss. The original prototype was made in Macromedia Flash 8, with movement and feeding choices shaping the experience.

Chen’s project page describes the original as downloadable and retains links labeled for online play and PC/Mac download. These are legacy access pointers, not confirmation that either link currently runs. The page also reports more than 350,000 downloads in the first two weeks after release; that is a historical creator-reported figure from 2006-era project material, not a current popularity measure.
Can you still play the original flOw online?
Not reliably through the original browser link. The exact-title guide was updated October 28, 2024, and says the game requires Adobe Flash, which is no longer supported. Because the original was built in Flash, do not treat the creator-page “online” link as a supported modern-browser solution.

Treat it as a historical download route rather than a guaranteed way to play today.

- Looking for the original free browser game? The creator still lists it, but Flash support has ended, so the listing is not a reliable modern-browser option.
- Looking for a current official product route? Check your regional PlayStation Store for the separate console edition and confirm its platform compatibility there.
- Searching for “Flow Free”? That is a different game: Big Duck Games’ pipe-connecting puzzle, not Chen’s aquatic organism game.
