Pokémon cards are reportedly coming back to U.S. McDonald’s Happy Meals from November 5 through December 9, 2026, but McDonald’s USA has not officially confirmed the promotion in the sources available as of October 8. The card identities and final offer details are not yet known.
When are Pokémon cards coming back to McDonald’s Happy Meals?
PokéBeach reported on September 27, 2026, that a U.S. Pokémon Trading Card Game Happy Meal promotion is planned for November 5 through December 9. The outlet says dates may differ in other countries and labels the information preliminary and subject to change. These are reported dates, not a confirmed McDonald’s USA announcement. PokéBeach’s report is the basis for the current timing.
Are the 30th anniversary Pokémon cards coming to the U.S.?
A U.S. promotion is reported, but the evidence cited so far does not establish an official McDonald’s USA confirmation. The reported U.S. campaign is separate from Japan’s officially announced 2026 anniversary Happy Set, so the Japanese announcement should not be read as confirmation of the U.S. dates or products.
What cards are in the reported McDonald’s Pokémon Happy Meal?
The 2026 card list has not been identified in the report. PokéBeach says 15 cards are expected, but that is preliminary reporting rather than an official McDonald’s specification. The outlet describes previous promotional packs as four cards—one holographic and three non-holographic—and says the holographic cards used confetti-style holofoil. Those details describe the reported past format, not a confirmed specification for the 2026 packs.

PokéBeach also reports that customers may be able to choose between a Pokémon toy and a “Pokemon Essential Handbook.” It says a possible card-display toy was unconfirmed. Treat both the reported choice and any possible display item as subject to change until McDonald’s USA publishes its offer.
Does Japan’s 2026 Happy Set have Pokémon cards?
No. McDonald’s Japan’s official 2026 Pokémon Happy Set was a toy promotion, and the company explicitly said there would be no weekend card gifts. Its announcement described 12 Pokémon toys in a campaign planned to begin August 7 and run for about three weeks, while supplies lasted. The toys were not selectable. McDonald’s Japan’s Happy Set announcement gives the terms for that market.

- 3 Sealed Booster Packs + 1 Promo Card. 31 Cards Total
The Japanese campaign, called “Pokémon Summer McDonald’s,” marked both the Japanese chain’s 55th anniversary and Pokémon’s 30th. Pokémon’s anniversary is tied to the February 27, 1996 release of Pokémon Red and Green, according to McDonald’s Japan’s July announcement. Those Japanese dates, toys, and restrictions do not establish what U.S. restaurants will offer.
What did the previous U.S. Pokémon Happy Meal include?
McDonald’s USA’s January 2025 promotion included a booster pack containing four of 15 possible Pokémon TCG cards, a poster, and a sticker sheet. Qualifying app orders also received a one-time code for Pokémon TCG Pocket rewards. That is a useful precedent, not proof that the 2026 offer will use the same pack format, extras, or digital rewards. McDonald’s USA’s 2025 announcement describes that earlier campaign.

Why were Japan’s Pokémon card Happy Meals controversial in 2025?
McDonald’s Japan canceled a separate 2025 card promotion after resellers bought meals and discarded food. The Associated Press reported that the company apologized and discussed measures including possible purchase limits and online-order restrictions. That incident is historical context; it does not establish the rules for a reported U.S. promotion in 2026. The Associated Press report covered the cancellation and the company’s response.

Until McDonald’s USA announces its own terms, collectors should treat the reported dates, card count, pack contents, and toy options as provisional. Check McDonald’s U.S. newsroom and local Happy Meal listings for an official announcement and location-specific availability before making plans. If you collect the cards, a trading-card binder can help keep a set together; it is not part of the promotion.
