If Path of Titans keeps crashing on your Windows PC, start with the exact error message and when the crash happens. A startup failure, a named Unreal Engine fatal error, and a lost server connection can have different causes, so the right fix depends on what you see. Alderon Games’ PC crash troubleshooting guide pairs remedies with specific errors rather than offering one fix for every crash.
Before trying a fix, identify when Path of Titans crashes
Note whether the game closes before the menu, fails while loading, or crashes during play. If an error appears, copy its full text, including any file name, line number, or error code. Alderon’s troubleshooting steps are often specific to a named error; matching the message first helps avoid applying an unrelated renderer or cache change.
A message that the server connection was lost is not necessarily a game crash. Treat it as a connection problem unless the game itself closes or stops responding.
8 fixes for Path of Titans crashes on PC
1. Update Windows
Alderon identifies outdated Windows as a possible cause of startup or loading problems. Its current crash guidance recommends Windows 11 24H2 and says Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025. Check Windows Update and install available updates before testing the game again.

- Cooperative deck-building game
- Play as one of eight different heroes, each with a unique Special ability
- Move your hero from location to location to gather the cards you need to stop the Titans!
- Compatible with previous and future Cerberus game engine releases
- Ages 15 & up, 1-5 players
2. Update your graphics driver
Outdated or corrupt graphics drivers can contribute to some fatal errors, according to Alderon. Update the driver using the support or update utility for your GPU, then restart the PC and try the game again. A driver update is a sensible maintenance step, but it is not a guaranteed fix for every crash.
3. Compare your PC with the current requirements
Alderon’s PC requirements page lists 16 GB RAM as the minimum and recommends 32 GB. It highly recommends a dedicated graphics card; integrated graphics may work but can have performance problems. The page lists supported GPU families including Nvidia Pascal through Blackwell, AMD GCN 5.0 through RDNA 4, and Intel Alchemist and Battlemage, as well as specified integrated GPU families. Check Alderon’s live list for your exact configuration, since supported hardware can change.

- FINISHING TASKS IS A BIT MORE EXTREME WHEN YOU'RE A SUPERHERO: The Teen Titans have a lot to do during the day. To get everything done, they have split into two teams. Even though it didn’t start as a contest to see who could get everything done first, the gauntlet has been thrown down and if it means a little playful combat, so be it.
- COMBAT STRATEGY BOARD GAME: Teen Titans GO! Mayhem puts players in the role of the Titans as they go around the city trying to complete missions and gain VPs. Of course, completing the missions isn’t the only one way to gain VPs. They can also KO one-another to speed up their victory!
- ACTION-PACKED FIGHTING GAME: Teen Titans Go Mayhem is built around the "Mayhem System", a system for character vs. character team-based combat in which the most direct method for a team to gain VP is by KOing their opponents.
- CHALLENGING AND COMPETITIVE: Each Titan has their own hero dashboard with their own unique style and special moves to utilize throughout the game. Roll the Mayhem die and see just how much damage can be done in this winner-take-all contest. The player that gets to 5 VPs first is the winner.
- NUMBER OF PLAYERS AND AVERAGE PLAYTIME: This fun combat strategy board game for adults and kids is made for 2 to 4 players and is suitable for ages 10 and older. Average playtime is approximately 30 minutes.
Being below a published requirement may indicate a compatibility or performance issue, but it does not establish that a hardware upgrade will solve an unspecified crash. Check the error and software fixes before considering a purchase.
4. Switch to DirectX 11 for the specific line 859 fatal error
If the full message is “Fatal Error: [File:Unknown] [Line: 859]”, Alderon says the launcher is most likely trying to use DirectX 12. Its targeted workaround is to select DirectX 11:

- In the Alderon Games launcher, click the cogwheel next to your username.
- Open Game settings.
- Under Renderer, choose DirectX 11.
- Restart the launcher and try starting the game.
This renderer change is for the named error, not a general remedy for every crash.
5. Close the tuning utility named in an access-violation error
For EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION, Alderon points to software such as MSI Afterburner, EVGA or Riva Tuner Statistics, or similar programs that alter fan settings as possible causes. If you use one, close it and test the game. Alderon recommends uninstalling the offending program when it is responsible; do not remove unrelated utilities without a reason to connect them to the error.

6. Repair or verify the installed game files
Choose the file-checking option that matches your installation and error:
- Alderon launcher and a Webroot false positive: Alderon says Webroot can mistakenly remove game files. Whitelist the game and launcher in Webroot, then use Scan and Repair in the launcher.
- Steam installation: Use Steam’s file-verification tool to check that the installed files are intact.
If the error specifically says “Missing game files,” Alderon’s documented remedy is a clean reinstall. Try the appropriate repair or verification step first when it applies; reserve reinstalling for the error-specific case or when file repair does not resolve the problem.

7. Delete DatabaseCache after a Public Test Branch problem
If you recently used the Public Test Branch and the game now will not start or load, Alderon suggests deleting the DatabaseCache folder. Open AppData > Local > PathOfTitans > Saved, delete the DatabaseCache folder, then restart the demo and launcher.
8. Check the monitor connection for Application Hang Detected
If you see Application Hang Detected on a desktop that meets the requirements, Alderon says to check that the monitor is connected to the graphics card, not the motherboard. If you are unsure which port is which, ask the PC retailer or manufacturer, or contact Alderon support.

- Windows N edition: Alderon notes that Windows N may lack media files the game requires. Follow the Windows-specific guidance in its crash troubleshooting guide.
- “Outdated Windows” warning despite an up-to-date system: Alderon says launcher compatibility mode can cause this warning. Check the launcher’s compatibility settings rather than assuming Windows itself is out of date.
- Unreal Engine shader archive fatal error on certain Intel CPUs: Alderon documents a specific case involving the i9-13900K, i9-13900KF, i9-13900KS, i9-14900K, i9-14900KF, or i9-14900KS. Use the troubleshooting instructions for that exact error in Alderon’s guide; do not treat the CPU model alone as proof of the cause.
When to contact Alderon support
If the crash continues after the matching troubleshooting steps, submit a ticket through Alderon Games support. Include the complete error text, when the crash occurs, your Windows version, and your PC’s CPU, GPU, and RAM. Those details help distinguish an error-specific issue from a system or installation problem.
Alderon notes that Path of Titans is still in active development and its minimum requirements may change. Check its current requirements page when diagnosing a system that appears close to the supported limits.
