In July 2025, a trailer reportedly published by mistake on the Italian official Pokémon YouTube channel revealed details about Pokémon TCG Pocket’s upcoming A4 expansion. Pokémon later announced the set under its official name, Wisdom of Sea and Sky, with Ho-Oh and Lugia at its center. The expansion launched on July 29, 2025, at 11 p.m. PDT; it is a past release, not an upcoming set.
What was reportedly leaked in the A4 trailer?
Insider Gaming reported on July 22, 2025, that the Italian official Pokémon YouTube channel had accidentally published a trailer for A4 and that the video was later removed. The outlet described the set title in translation as “The Way of the Sky and the Sea.” These are details reported about the trailer, not a separate official card-by-card announcement. Insider Gaming’s report covered the following cards:
- Ex cards for Ho-Oh, Lugia, Umbreon, and Espeon
- An illustration rare Pichu and a standard Cleffa
- Johto starters Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile
What Pokémon officially confirmed
On July 24, 2025, The Pokémon Company announced the expansion as Wisdom of Sea and Sky, featuring Ho-Oh and Lugia. Its announcement confirmed the official name, headline Pokémon, and release timing; the detailed card list above comes from Insider Gaming’s account of the leaked trailer. Pokémon’s announcement identifies this as content for the digital Pokémon TCG Pocket game. The available announcements do not establish a physical booster product associated with this expansion.
Why the leak said July 30 but Pokémon said July 29
Insider Gaming’s July 22 report said the trailer gave a July 30 release date. Pokémon’s official timing was July 29, 2025, at 11 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time. Those dates are compatible: a release at that hour falls on July 30 in regions ahead of Pacific time. The difference reflects time zones, not evidence of two separate launches.

Where the story sits now
The leak was reported in July 2025, and Wisdom of Sea and Sky is no longer a forthcoming expansion. The official Pocket news listing showed an announcement for a new series in October 2026, demonstrating that later updates followed A4; the listing does not, by itself, establish a complete expansion timeline. The official Pokémon TCG Pocket news page is the place to check current announcements.
A separate Pokémon notice from October 30, 2024, concerned a production issue with immersive Ho-Oh ex and Lugia ex illustrations and temporary placeholder artwork while replacements were prepared. That earlier notice predates the A4 leak and addresses a different issue; it should not be mistaken for part of the 2025 trailer story. Pokémon’s notice about the illustrations explains that earlier matter.
