The lawsuit alleges that Roblox and third-party gambling websites enabled minors to wager Robux outside Roblox. Those are plaintiffs’ claims, not a court finding that Roblox facilitated illegal gambling. As of Roblox’s Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, some claims had been dismissed, other claims remained pending, and discovery was ongoing.
What the lawsuit alleges
A proposed class action filed in federal court in California in 2023 accused Roblox and operators of third-party gambling sites of facilitating minors’ gambling with Robux. The complaint alleged that Roblox profited from, and helped power, transactions involving those sites. A 2023 Ars Technica report described the alleged process: users connected Roblox accounts to outside sites, exchanged Robux for site credits, wagered those credits on games such as blackjack or coin flips, and could convert winnings back into Robux. These details describe the plaintiffs’ allegations as reported at the time; they have not been established as findings against Roblox.
The complaint named Roblox and third-party operators including Satozuki, Studs Entertainment and RBLXWild Entertainment. The reported allegations concern websites outside Roblox’s own hosted experiences, not a court determination that Roblox itself ran those casinos.
Claims about the scale of wagering
Ars Technica reported that the lawsuit attributed to RBXFlip’s owners a claim that 7 billion Robux, said in the complaint to be worth more than $70 million, was wagered on the site in 2021. The same report said the owners claimed RBXFlip’s revenue increased tenfold in 2022. These are attributed claims, not independently audited figures.

The cited materials do not establish how prevalent third-party Robux gambling was among minors. The examples in the complaint should not be taken as evidence that it involved all, or most, Roblox players.
What Roblox said
Roblox’s response, as reported by Ars Technica from Bloomberg Law, was that the sites were unaffiliated with the company and misused its branding and intellectual property. The company said: “these are third-party sites and have no legal affiliation to Roblox whatsoever. Bad actors make illegal use of Roblox’s intellectual property and branding to operate such sites in violation of our standards.” That is Roblox’s position, not a judicial finding about the sites or the company’s liability.

What the courts have—and have not—decided
The December 2025 ruling concerned a website defendant
On December 10, 2025, U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria denied virtual-casino defendant Boris Said’s motion to dismiss claims under California’s Unfair Competition Law and common law. In explaining the ruling, the judge wrote: “Robux must be considered things of value because they are akin to arcade tokens.” He reasoned that Robux could count as things of value for the claims against Said and discussed ambiguity in California’s gambling statutes.
This was a ruling at the motion-to-dismiss stage on claims against a gambling-site defendant. It was not a final judgment, and it did not decide that Roblox violated gambling laws or was ultimately liable.

The Roblox claims remained unresolved in the cited 2026 record
Roblox’s Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, describes the Colvin matter and its consolidation with the substantially similar Gentry matter. The filing says certain claims were dismissed following a 2025 motion, while other claims remained pending and discovery was ongoing. A March 10, 2026 order addressing a request to compel a minor plaintiff’s mental-health records denied that request; it was a discovery ruling, not a resolution of the core claims.
The cited court and company records therefore show litigation activity, not a final resolution. They do not establish a final finding of liability against Roblox.
