Jaimee Seitz filed a wrongful-death complaint against Roblox Corporation and Discord Inc. in federal court in Kentucky on October 20, 2025, alleging that online interactions and the companies’ platform designs contributed to her daughter Audree Heine’s death by suicide. Those claims have not been established as facts by a court. The latest procedural account in the sources available here is an August 20, 2026 report that Roblox was seeking arbitration; no ruling on that request is confirmed.
What the Kentucky lawsuit alleges
The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky, Covington Division, names Seitz individually and as administrator of Heine’s estate. It says Audree died by suicide one week after her 13th birthday.
According to the complaint, Audree encountered users associated with a “True Crime Community” that glorified mass shooters. It alleges that interactions and social pressure spanning Roblox and Discord encouraged harm to herself and others, and that the companies’ design choices and safety representations contributed to the events. These are the plaintiff’s allegations, not court findings about what caused Audree’s death or what either company did or failed to do.
The complaint names Roblox and Discord. Although a PBS Kentucky Edition transcript mentions TikTok in a summary passage, TikTok is not listed as a defendant in the complaint reviewed for this account. The complaint spells the teen’s name “Audree Heine.”

What has happened in court
As reported by PBS Kentucky Edition on August 20, 2026, Roblox was seeking to send the dispute to arbitration, relying on terms the company says Audree accepted when she signed up at age eight. Her mother’s attorneys objected to treating those signup clicks as a waiver of a jury trial. The report describes a procedural dispute, not a decision on the underlying allegations.
The sources available for this article do not establish whether the court subsequently granted or denied Roblox’s request. That distinction matters: arbitration concerns where and how a dispute is heard; it would not itself determine whether the complaint’s allegations are true. A current docket entry would be needed to state the request’s status beyond the August report.

How Roblox describes its safety measures
In an August 15, 2025 statement, Roblox said it does not comment on pending litigation and described safeguards that include parental controls, content maturity labels, text filters, age estimation, moderation teams and monitoring. Those are the company’s descriptions of its policies and systems, not independent evidence that the measures prevented the alleged harm in this case.
In the same statement, Roblox reported 24,522 reports to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in 2024. The company compared that figure with 20.3 million total reports submitted to NCMEC and said Roblox’s submissions represented 0.12% of the total. These company-reported figures count reports, not the prevalence of harm on Roblox, the accuracy of reports, or the effectiveness of its safeguards.

How this case relates to other Roblox proceedings
Other legal matters offer context for the scrutiny Roblox faces, but they are separate from Seitz’s Kentucky lawsuit. The available records describe different claims and procedural stages:
| Proceeding | Court or record | What the reported status establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Seitz v. Roblox Corporation and Discord Inc. | U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky, Covington Division | The October 20, 2025 complaint asserts wrongful-death claims. PBS reported on August 20, 2026 that Roblox was seeking arbitration; the sources reviewed do not confirm a ruling on that request. |
| Tennessee consumer-protection case against Roblox | Tennessee state court | On September 22, 2026, the Tennessee Attorney General said the court denied Roblox’s motion to dismiss. The decision allows that separate case to proceed; it does not finally decide whether Roblox deceived consumers. |
| Other youth-safety and consumer-protection matters | Roblox Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 | Roblox described lawsuits or investigations in several states and Los Angeles County as being in early stages and said it could not then reasonably estimate losses for those matters. |
The Tennessee Attorney General’s update is not a ruling on Seitz’s claims. Nor does Roblox’s SEC filing establish that any allegation in the Kentucky case has been proven.
