Spoilers ahead for romance scenes and quest choices. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has five named romance routes—Klara, Rosa Ruthard, Katherine, Hans Capon, and Margaret—alongside several brief encounters. You can see most of them in one playthrough, but Katherine and Hans compete for the final romance scene in Hunger and Despair. Rosa can be paired with either one, provided you handle her time-sensitive book in Taking French Leave.
Which romance routes can Henry pursue?
The routes vary in length and commitment. Klara has an early, quest-linked scene; Rosa’s story spans later quests; Katherine and Hans develop across the campaign; Margaret’s is a self-contained encounter. Brief flings are not equivalent to these longer story arcs.

The longer routes are primarily story scenes and context, not a permanent dating or companion system. The route guide describes major romance outcomes as affecting personal-story context more than the central political outcome; it does not establish marriage or broad changes to the ending. How to preserve the most routes in one playthrough
- Make a separate save before Taking French Leave. Rosa’s book scene is time-sensitive within that quest. [Rosa route guide]
- Complete Katherine’s The Fifth Commandment while she is still in Kuttenberg. Also resolve The Stalker during The Lion’s Den if pursuing her. [Katherine and Hans route guide]
- Take Klara’s herb walk during Back in the Saddle. Do not let that quest progress past the opportunity before completing it. [Klara route guide]

How to romance Klara
Accept and finish the herb walk
At Nebakov during Back in the Saddle, accept Klara’s offer to collect herbs and stay with the task before the quest moves forward. For her riddle, the listed answer is: “I think she’s called Klara.” [Klara route guide]

When the wounded need attention during The Finger of God, treat them correctly, then speak to Klara afterward. This is an early, story-bound route rather than an ongoing companion relationship. [Klara route guide]

Return her book promptly
During Taking French Leave, agree to retrieve Rosa’s red, gold-inlaid book at Maleshov. Pick it up while you are there and return it promptly; delaying can cost the writing scene. [Rosa route guide]

Protect Rosa and choose the supportive options

Complete her side quests before the story moves her

Build the route through heart-marked dialogue
Hans’s romance depends on heart-marked conversation choices across the campaign, so treat those replies as route opportunities rather than assuming a later quest will make up for missed dialogue. [Katherine and Hans route guide]
Choose the Hans scene in Hunger and Despair
At the late farewell, speak to Hans before leaving. Choose the response comparing the two knights to Henry and Hans, then select the kiss option. This final scene excludes Katherine’s on the same save, but not Rosa’s route. [Katherine and Hans route guide]

Margaret
