In Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (SWGoH), Potency Up is a buff that increases a unit’s Potency by 50%, according to the community-maintained SWGoH Wiki. It can be dispelled, prevented, or copied. The ability that grants it determines its duration and eligible recipients.
What does Potency Up do in SWGoH?
Potency affects a unit’s chance to apply debuffs. Potency Up raises that stat by 50% while the buff is active. The SWGoH Wiki’s Potency Up reference classifies it as a buff and marks it as dispellable, preventable, and copyable. This is a community-maintained description, not an official explanation of the game engine’s calculations.

How long does Potency Up last?
There is no single duration established for the buff: its duration depends on the ability that applies it. For example, Baylan Skoll’s official kit says his Special 1, “One Must Destroy,” grants all Mercenary allies Potency Up for two turns. The ability also grants Offense Up and has a three-turn cooldown. Those details apply to Baylan’s ability, not to every source of Potency Up. See the EA/Capital Games Baylan Skoll kit reveal, published October 30, 2024.
Which characters and ships apply Potency Up?
The SWGoH Wiki lists multiple characters and ships that can apply the buff, including Bodhi Rook, C-3PO, Cara Dune, Comeuppance, Executor, and Executrix. The buff’s availability and recipients depend on the individual kit; consult the relevant ability text for its target restrictions and duration.

Potency Up versus a separate Potency bonus
A kit can describe a Potency stat bonus without calling it the Potency Up buff. For example, Captain Enoch’s official kit says Imperial Remnant allies have +75% Potency. That is distinct wording from Potency Up’s +50% buff description. The available official kit text does not establish a mathematical stacking formula between those effects, so do not assume how they combine. See the EA/Capital Games Captain Enoch kit reveal, published August 12, 2024.
What to check when comparing sources of Potency Up
- Recipients: Check which allies or units receive the buff and whether a faction or tag is required.
- Duration: Use the duration stated in that ability, rather than assuming a universal length.
- Trigger and cooldown: Check whether the ability depends on a battle condition or has a cooldown.
- Other Potency effects: Note separately worded Potency bonuses, since the cited kit descriptions do not specify how they stack with Potency Up.
EA’s Night Trooper kit reveal, published July 3, 2024, says the character greatly benefits from Potency; that is a strategic note, not a definition of Potency Up. For a battle-specific ruling, check the current in-game ability text.
