These are timed battles against individual hostiles, with rank-based progression and rewards. They are distinct from Quark’s Challenge, a scheduled hostile-focused event series.
What is the Court of Q in STFC?
The Court of Q is a feature introduced as part of the Q Continuum content. It provides access to Q’s Trials: personal, timed battles against powerful enemies. Scopely’s official help article describes them as battles that test skill, strength, and strategy. The feature’s balance and availability can change, so check the in-game Court of Q for current details.

How do you unlock the Court of Q?
Scopely lists the requirement as Operations Level 19. Players must also build the Court of Q using Court of Q Keys, which are available in the game’s Gifts section. The help article does not state a separate level requirement for each Trial tier.
How do Q’s Trials work?
- Choose a Trial and spend Trial Bells to begin.
- Fight the unique hostile before the timer expires.
- If you do not defeat it on the first attempt, you can retry while the timer remains active. Its shield and hull reset between attempts, so damage from one attempt does not carry over.
- Earn progression and rewards by completing Trials. Higher ranks bring more difficult Trials.
What affects Trial rewards and progression?
Trial Rank and Assessment Rank
Trial Rank tracks progression through the Trials. Assessment Rank is the highest Trial Rank you have achieved across the Trials, according to Scopely. Assessment Rank affects the success rate of Forbidden Tech upgrades.
#1 Best Overall
- Redemption: Instore
- No returns and no refunds on gift cards.
Protomatter and milestone rewards
Scopely lists Protomatter as a Trial reward, with the amount affected by both Court of Q level and Trial Rank. Trial milestones may award Forbidden Tech pieces and upgrade materials. Completing milestones also grants Seals of Approval, which unlock further tiers.
Rewards on replay
Once you reach maximum rank, completed Trials can be replayed to earn Protomatter. Milestone rewards are one-time rewards rather than repeatable drops.

- Your Starbucks Card eGift may only be used for making purchases at participating Starbucks stores.
- Redemption: Instore and Online
- No returns and no refunds on gift cards.
How should you prepare for a Trial?
Scopely recommends increasing ship power before attempting higher-level Trials. Most enemies generally align with one of the three ship types—Explorer, Battleship, or Interceptor—so matching your ship and battle approach to the hostile can help. Scopely notes that there are exceptions, so treat the type pattern as a guide rather than a guarantee.
Is Quark’s Challenge the same as Q’s Trials?
No. The names refer to separate activities with different access points and time structures. Q’s Trials are accessed through the Court of Q and use Trial Bells, timers, ranks, and Seals of Approval. Quark’s Challenge is a scheduled event series scored through event tasks.

| Feature | Q’s Trials | Quark’s Challenge |
|---|---|---|
| Access | Court of Q | In-game Events section |
| Structure | Timed hostile battles; retry while a Trial timer is active | Scheduled event tasks and milestones |
| Progression or scoring | Trial Rank and Assessment Rank | Score by completing listed event actions |
| Associated rewards or currency | Protomatter, milestone rewards, and Seals of Approval | Event milestones and leaderboard rewards; the exact rewards depend on the event |
Scopely’s March 2026 schedule provides a historical example of Quark’s Grand Challenge: tasks included destroying hostiles with particular ship classes, defeating named hostile groups, and spending or upgrading in-game assets. That schedule covered Operations Levels 20–50 and is not a current October 2026 schedule; Scopely says event schedules may change. Use the in-game Events button to see what is currently available.
How do you join and claim rewards for a Quark event?
Scopely says actions that score points count as participation in most events, though some event types require you to press a Join button. Milestone rewards can be claimed as milestones are reached. Leaderboard rewards arrive after the event ends, and rewards must be collected while the event remains visible in the Events tab. Check the event screen for its specific participation and claim rules.

- Star Trek Sci-Fi design featuring the iconic Starfleet Command insignia with a unique hologram fill effect, perfect for fans of the legendary space exploration series.
- Ideal custom shirt gift for Star Trek enthusiasts, conventions, casual wear, or celebrating your love for the U.S.S. Enterprise crew and the final frontier.
What if a Trial attempt fails?
If the timer is still running, you can retry. The hostile’s shield and hull reset between attempts, so each fight starts with the enemy restored rather than carrying over damage from your previous attempt.
