What does the No Fog mod change?
The Nexus Mods listing describes No Fog as a mod that “Removes or tones down fog.” It offers two settings: F1 removes fog, while F2 reduces it. With less fog obscuring the view, players can see more of the environments; the trade-off is that the game may feel less frightening.

What is the trade-off for using it?
Fog is part of the oppressive horror atmosphere associated with Silent Hill. Notebookcheck’s report on the mod says that clearer scenery can make Silent Hill f less scary. Its recommendation is to avoid No Fog on a first playthrough and consider it after finishing the game. That is editorial advice, rather than a universal rule: players who prefer clearer views may choose differently.
