To see Steam’s stored total of external funds applied to your account, open Help → Steam Support → My Account → Data Related to Your Steam Account → External Funds Used. The total is a useful account-level figure, but Steam says these values “are calculated only when needed and are not always current.” For individual transactions, use your purchase history.
How to find your Steam spending total
- Sign in to Steam in the client or on the website.
- Open Help → Steam Support → My Account → Data Related to Your Steam Account → External Funds Used.
- Review the account data shown on the page. Steam’s account-data URL is External Funds Used; you must be signed in to access it.
The page reports an aggregate, not a guaranteed up-to-the-minute lifetime ledger. Steam’s support explanation says the values are calculated only when needed and may not always be current. It also says that if values are absent, they may not currently be stored in Valve’s database.
What the External Funds Used fields mean
- TotalSpend: External funds applied to the account, including funds used to buy items on the Steam Store or added to the Steam Wallet. Steam also uses this figure to determine whether an account is a Limited User Account.
- OldSpend: External funds applied before Friday, April 17, 2015 at 18:00:00 UTC.
- PWSpend: An approximate USD value of funds applied from Perfect World for accounts linked to Perfect World for CS:GO or Dota 2. The reproduced support explanation says the value is zero otherwise.
Which Steam figure should you use?
| Where to look | What it measures | Detail and freshness |
|---|---|---|
| External Funds Used | External funds applied to the account | Account-level aggregate; Steam says the stored values may not always be current. |
| Purchase History | Individual Steam transactions | Transaction-level detail for reviewing or locating purchases. |
| SteamDB Calculator | An estimate of account or library value | Not a record of money actually spent or a retrieval of Valve’s private transaction total. |
These figures can differ because library ownership, gifts, wallet funding, discounts and price estimates are not the same as external funds applied to an account. SteamDB’s calculator is an estimate, not a spending ledger.
How to check the transactions behind the total
For a transaction-by-transaction record, sign in, open your account name menu, then choose Account Details → View purchase history. Steam recommends this view for reviewing purchases. Wallet funds are used by default when making a purchase unless you change the intended payment method on the purchase confirmation screen.
