Streamer Tigz was reported as the first player to complete Escape from Tarkov’s Terminal escape ending and survive, on December 1, 2025. The achievement came shortly after the game’s version 1.0 release, but it was an in-game campaign ending—not a real-world escape or proof that Tigz has quit playing.
Who escaped from Tarkov?
Insider Gaming and GamesRadar reported that Tigz was the first player to escape through the game’s new ending. Their reports say Battlestate Games studio head Nikita Buyanov announced the achievement, and the official Escape from Tarkov account congratulated Tigz. This is the reported first successful escape ending, not a verified claim that Tigz was the first person ever to play or finish the game. The reports do not provide an independent audit of every player’s progress. Insider Gaming’s account and GamesRadar’s report describe the event.
How did Tigz escape?
According to Insider Gaming, Tigz reached the new Terminal map, fought through its enemies and escaped by boat. The reports tie the ending to the game’s 1.0 update. They do not establish the exact branching requirements, route, or steps needed to reproduce the run, so this account should not be treated as a walkthrough.
What does “escaping from Tarkov” mean?
It means reaching an ending in the game’s campaign. It is separate from the ordinary meaning of escape in Escape from Tarkov’s extraction-shooter loop, where extraction determines whether a player keeps or loses loot. Steam describes the game as an extraction FPS; the December 2025 reports concern a campaign ending made achievable with the Terminal endgame sequence. Neither use of “escape” means leaving the real-world city of Tarkov or permanently quitting the game. Steam’s store listing identifies Battlestate Games as developer and publisher and lists November 15, 2025 as the game’s release date.

Was this the best ending?
No. Insider Gaming reported that Buyanov described Tigz’s result as the second-worst of four endings. The reports do not explain all four outcomes or give enough detail to compare their requirements. Tigz’s achievement was the first reported successful escape, but it did not amount to the best ending.
Buyanov reportedly offered a reward to whoever completes that best ending. GamesRadar quoted him: “The first who will complete the game with the Best Ending will definitely have something special from me!” The offer was reported in December 2025; the report does not specify what the reward would be.

Why did the achievement happen then?
Escape from Tarkov’s 1.0 release was listed by Steam as November 15, 2025. The event reports connect that update with the Terminal endgame and the newly achievable escape ending. Tigz’s reported run followed about two weeks later, on December 1, 2025. The milestone is therefore about completing this newly available ending—not about the game having had no players or completed runs before 1.0.
