Star Citizen’s public funding tracker had passed $800 million by April 9, 2025, when PC Gamer reported a displayed total of $802,165,273. That is a tracker milestone—not proof that Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) recognized $802 million as revenue, holds that amount in cash, or has spent it all on development.
What the $800 million figure measures
RSI’s official funding page labels its live measure “Funds Raised” and describes contributions as money pledged toward the game’s development. PC Gamer reported the tracker display at $802,165,273 on April 9, 2025. The milestone is real as a reported public-tracker total; the word “earned” can imply more than that figure establishes.
The tracker total should not be treated as an audited accounting figure. RSI’s Terms of Service describe pledge funds as supporting development and production costs, operations and hosting, and related corporate expenses. The available sources do not reconcile the tracker with CIG’s financial statements or establish how much has been spent.

The latest exact total for October 8, 2026, is not established here. Because RSI’s tracker is dynamic, the December 2025 snapshot should not be presented as today’s amount; check the live RSI funding page and note when you view it.

Why “raised” is not the same as revenue, cash, or spending
Several financial measures can sound interchangeable but are not: a public tracker total, recognized revenue, outside investment or loans, cash on hand, and cumulative development costs. The reported tracker figures do not provide a reconciliation among them. No audited statement or complete accounting of CIG’s revenue and spending is supplied by those snapshots, so they cannot establish profit, current cash, total financing, or total development expenditure.

RSI’s terms say Star Citizen remains in Alpha and describe pledges as providing early access. Depending on the pledge, entitlements may include Open Alpha access, in-game items when developed and introduced, or Squadron 42. RSI’s historical funding-goals page records the campaign’s 2012 start and stretch goals; those historical commitments are not proof that every listed feature has been delivered.

A large tracker total does not answer whether or when Star Citizen will be finished. It documents the scale of funds shown by a public tracker at particular dates, not a completion date or a guarantee of future development outcomes.
