The date is historical, not an upcoming release. The trailer introduces Kay Vess and her companion Nix as they navigate the Star Wars underworld.
What the announcement revealed
Ubisoft paired the release-date announcement with a story trailer featuring scoundrel Kay Vess, her companion Nix, and droid ND-5. The game follows Kay in a criminal underworld setting between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, according to StarWars.com’s Gamescom trailer coverage.

The August announcement was distinct from later trailer coverage. On August 22, 2024, StarWars.com published a separate Gamescom trailer story, noting that the game would arrive the following week. Ubisoft had also shown gameplay in June; that showcase followed Kay on Tatooine as she sought an expert gunslinger to help improve her blaster skills, and an overview trailer introduced characters, jobs, and locations. These are Ubisoft’s descriptions of the game, not independent gameplay findings. See Ubisoft News’ June 10, 2024 gameplay article.

When Ubisoft announced the date in June 2024, it said Gold Edition and Ultimate Edition owners, as well as Ubisoft+ Premium subscribers, could play up to three days early beginning August 27, 2024. That was a launch-period offer, not a current early-access window or purchase promise. Edition contents and availability may vary by platform and region, so confirm details in the applicable storefront.
