Starfield launched on PlayStation 5 on April 7, 2026. The older claim that its PS5 port would not be announced until 2026 was an insider forecast published in October 2025—not an official Bethesda announcement—and has since been overtaken by Bethesda’s launch confirmation.
Is Starfield coming to PS5?
It is already available. Bethesda announced on April 7, 2026 that Starfield was available on PlayStation 5. Bethesda said the PS5 edition includes patches and updates released since the game’s original launch, including the Free Lanes update.

What did the 2025 PS5 port claim say?
On October 20, 2025, Insider Gaming reported an expectation attributed to industry insider NateTheHate: “Believe the announcement will be in 2026 unless plans change.” It was a forecast, not confirmation from Bethesda. The report also referred to earlier reporting that had suggested a spring 2026 PS5 release.
Before that, a PlayStation label briefly appeared on a mod listing, but GameSpot reported on March 14, 2025 that the listing could have been an error and was not confirmation of a PS5 release. In the run-up to launch, TechRadar covered a March 3, 2026 leak claiming an April 7 release and Standard and Premium editions; that report was an intermediate rumor, superseded by Bethesda’s official announcement.

When did Starfield come out on PS5?
Bethesda announced the release date on March 17, 2026: April 7, 2026. On that date, the publisher confirmed the game was available. The original headline’s prediction that the announcement would not happen until 2026 is therefore historical, not a current status update.

Bethesda lists Standard and Premium editions for PS5 in physical or digital formats. Its digital-only Premium Edition Upgrade requires the base game and does not include it.
