Low-spoiler hints for July 28
- Theme: “Inch by inch, row by row.”
- Additional clue: “Perhaps you have a dedicated portion of your backyard for this purpose.”
- Answer count: Seven words in total, including the spangram.

The answers, in grid order as reported by Forbes, are:
- BLOSSOM
- HARVEST
- GROW
- RIPEN
- SEED
- SPROUT
- VEGETABLE GARDEN — spangram
The first two letters in that same order are BL, HA, GR, RI, SE, SP, and VE. The spangram is written as two words in the guides; some archives omit the space and display it as VEGETABLEGARDEN.

How the spangram fits the board
TechRadar reports that VEGETABLE GARDEN contains 15 letters and touches the left side of the grid at row six and the right side at row seven. In Strands, a spangram describes the connection among the theme words and links at least two sides of the board; it does not have to start or end at an edge.
How Strands hints work
Strands uses a six-by-eight letter grid. Find words related to the daily theme by connecting adjacent letters horizontally, vertically, or diagonally; a word can change direction along its path. According to Forbes’ description of the rules, finding three valid words of at least four letters that are not theme answers unlocks a hint highlighting the letters of one theme word.
