How Strands works
Strands is a themed word-search puzzle. You trace adjacent letters in any direction, without reusing or crossing letters. Regular theme words are highlighted in blue; the spangram, which describes the theme and reaches opposite sides of the board, is highlighted in yellow. The cited mechanics are described by secondary guides, rather than an official NYT rules page.
If you get stuck, finding three valid non-theme words of at least four letters earns a hint that reveals the letters of a theme answer. A current third-party rules page also describes the board as a 6-by-8 grid and explains diagonal adjacency: Play Strands NYT rules.
