A mirror lists a v1.1.0 ZIP and shows a September 5, 2026 file date. Those dates refer to different things: the project’s stated release history and a later file listing, respectively.

Is Super Mario Eclipse a standalone game?
No. Eclipse modifies Super Mario Sunshine; it is not a separate official Nintendo release. You need a compatible base-game image and a way to apply the mod’s x-delta patch. An experimental native recompilation project is not a playable PC port: its repository says it cannot yet reach menus or gameplay (Eclipse Recompiled repository).
What does the mod add?
The project listing advertises a broad reworking of Sunshine. These are the project’s feature claims, not results of an independent play test.

Its source repository describes itself as the project’s source-code home, says the code compiles into the Kuribo module, and credits JoshuaMK, CyrusLoS, and Eclipse Team for source-code use, with Eclipse Team credited for source assets (source repository).

How do you play Super Mario Eclipse?
- Get the base game legally. The project requires a legally ripped US, non-NKit Super Mario Sunshine image. A physical disc by itself is not the mod; the listing specifies the compatible image format and region.
- Choose a listed play route. Use Dolphin Emulator, Wii, Wii U, or original GameCube according to the project’s stated options and your setup.
- Apply the patch. Use an x-delta-capable patching application with the compatible base image and Eclipse patch. The listing requires this capability; consult the project’s release instructions for the applicable files and steps.
- Launch through the chosen route. The project lists the platforms but does not establish identical setup steps or performance across them.
Is there an optional graphics upgrade?
Yes. A separate high-resolution texture pack repository displays v5.0.0 as its latest release and says it was updated for game version 1.1.0. It also links an optional ReShade preset (texture-pack releases). The pack is an add-on, not a requirement for Eclipse; its installation details and performance depend on the machine and are not established by the project listing.
