If SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada is crashing on PS5, start by identifying exactly what happens, then check installation and updates, restart the console, and work through storage, reinstall, and Safe Mode options only as needed. These are general PlayStation troubleshooting steps—not confirmed fixes for a known game-specific PS5 crash.
First distinguish a game closing to the PS5 home screen from a freeze, an online disconnect, or a return to the title screen after sending a result. Those symptoms can have different causes. Bandai Namco has documented a result-communication problem that can return some players to the title screen, but its notice does not identify that as a PS5 crash.
1. Identify the failure before changing anything
Write down what you see and when it happens. This helps separate a crash from an online or result-upload problem and gives support something reproducible to investigate.
- Crash: the game closes and you land on the PS5 home screen.
- Freeze: the game stops responding but has not closed.
- Online disconnect: your sortie or session is interrupted, but the game remains open.
- Title-screen return: you return to the game’s title screen, especially after completing a sortie or sending a result.
Note the activity immediately before the problem, any displayed error code or message, whether it happens repeatedly, and whether other games or online services work normally. PlayStation recommends providing the error details, steps to reproduce the problem, and a screenshot or video when contacting support.

2. Confirm the game is fully installed
If you downloaded the game, check that its download and installation have finished rather than trying to play while installation is still in progress. PlayStation’s game-crash guidance and game-startup troubleshooting guide include installation checks among their general steps.
3. Check for a game update
From the PS5 home screen, highlight SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada, press the options button, and choose Check for Update. Install any available update, then test the game again. This is a standard troubleshooting check, not evidence that a particular game update fixes this symptom.
4. Update PS5 system software
Check that the console is running current system software and install an available update. Follow the console’s on-screen prompts, then try the game again. PlayStation includes system-software updates in its general troubleshooting for games that freeze or fail to start.

5. Restart the PS5
Restart the console from the power menu, let it shut down and start again, and then launch the game. A restart is a low-risk check to try before deleting game data or entering Safe Mode.

If the problem occurs during online play, try another online game or service. If several games are crashing or the console is having broader problems, the issue may involve the PS5 rather than only this title. PlayStation advises contacting the game publisher when the problem is limited to one game; for issues across multiple games, its guidance points to console troubleshooting and repair support.
7. Check storage and game access
Move the game off USB extended storage
If SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada is installed on USB extended storage, move it to the PS5’s internal storage and test again. PlayStation’s startup troubleshooting guide includes this step.

Restore licenses for access problems
If the actual problem is that the game will not launch or shows a lock icon, check that you are signed into the account that owns it and restore licenses. This is relevant to access or ownership issues, not a general fix for crashes during play.
8. Reinstall the game if simpler checks do not help
PlayStation recommends deleting and downloading a digital game again as a troubleshooting step. Before removing it, check your saved-data backup or sync status and follow PlayStation’s official process for managing saved data. When downloading again, PlayStation suggests using a wired connection if possible.
Reinstalling is a general step, not a guaranteed remedy for a title-specific bug. After installation completes, check for the game update before testing again.

9. Try Safe Mode options for startup trouble
If the problem is that the game will not start, PlayStation lists clearing the system software cache and rebuilding the database through PS5 Safe Mode as later troubleshooting options. Follow PlayStation’s Safe Mode instructions carefully and select the specific option needed; do not choose a reset or system-software reinstall casually.

Contact Bandai Namco for a problem limited to this game
If the issue continues only with SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada, contact Bandai Namco support. Include the symptom category, when it occurs, any error code or message, what you tried, and a screenshot or video if you can capture one.
Contact PlayStation for broader console problems
If multiple games are crashing, follow PlayStation’s console troubleshooting and repair guidance. PlayStation lists backing up data and reinstalling system software as later steps. A full console reset erases data stored on the console, so back up first and use a reset only when the official troubleshooting path calls for it.

Is a return to the title screen a known issue?
Bandai Namco’s official known-issues notice describes some players failing to communicate a result and being returned to the title screen. The publisher advises waiting several hours for server data to refresh before logging in again, and contacting support if the problem persists. The notice does not confirm this as a PS5 crash or as the cause of a game closing to the home screen.
What the announced service end means for players
On 28 September 2026, Bandai Namco announced that online service will end after May 2027 and that an offline version is in development. The company said players can continue playing online until service ends, and that some existing saved data and designated purchased items may transfer to the offline version. The exact service-end date and transfer details were left for later updates. This service announcement is separate from troubleshooting a present-day crash.
