July 2024 brought a varied slate of games across consoles and PC, from a new HoYoverse action RPG to a long-awaited college football game. This is an editorial selection of seven releases from the month’s broader schedule, chosen for their distinct genres, platform reach, and—where available—a specific signal of player interest. It is not a definitive industry ranking.
Seven notable July 2024 game releases
| Game | Release date | Platforms or availability | Why it stands out |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zenless Zone Zero | July 4, 2024 | Released across platforms; the announcement does not specify them in the available schedule. GameSpot’s July schedule | HoYoverse’s new action RPG arrived early in the month. Its launch announcement set the release for 10:00 a.m. UTC+8 and described login and event rewards for the launch period; those rewards were time-limited launch details, not a statement about current availability. HoYoverse announcement |
| Darkest Dungeon II | July 15, 2024 | PS5 and PS4 | The grim, turn-based role-playing sequel brought its distinctive expedition-based play to PlayStation. GameSpot’s July schedule |
| Flock | July 16, 2024 | Listed in GameSpot’s July schedule | A lighter, creature-focused contrast to the month’s action and strategy releases. The schedule lists the date but does not establish platform details here. GameSpot’s July schedule |
| Dungeons of Hinterberg | July 18, 2024 | Listed in GameSpot’s July schedule | Its placement among the day’s releases gave July a distinct fantasy-adventure option; the schedule does not establish platform details here. GameSpot’s July schedule |
| Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn | July 18, 2024 | Listed in GameSpot’s July schedule | A fantasy action release that added another combat-focused choice to a crowded mid-month date. GameSpot’s July schedule |
| EA SPORTS College Football 25 | July 19, 2024 | PS5 and Xbox Series X|S | Sony reported that it ranked first in the US/Canada and fourth in the EU on its regional PS5 download charts for July 2024. Those placements reflect PlayStation Store downloads in those regions—not all-platform sales, total players, or worldwide demand. Sony’s July 2024 download charts |
| Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess | July 19, 2024 | Listed in GameSpot’s July schedule | Capcom’s mythic action-strategy release shared a date with College Football 25, making July 19 a particularly varied launch day. GameSpot’s July schedule |
How to read July’s release calendar
The month’s schedule extended well beyond these seven picks. GameSpot’s roundup also lists releases including Aerial_Knight’s We Never Yield, Cataclismo, EvilVEvil, Magical Delicacy, Nobody Wants to Die, Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus, Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, Schim, F1 Manager 2024, Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure, and Earth Defense Force 6. The seven above are a curated cross-section, not a claim that they were objectively the month’s most anticipated games.
Of the available signals of interest, the clearest is the PlayStation Store chart for College Football 25. Its US/Canada and EU positions are useful evidence of regional PS5 download performance in July, but they cannot be generalized into a worldwide or all-platform popularity ranking. The other selections are included for their release timing and the range of play styles represented in the schedule.
