Pocketpair formed a new company with Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) and Aniplex to manage Palworld licensing and merchandising—not to publish or take over the Palworld game. Announced on July 10, 2024, Palworld Entertainment, Inc. is focused on commercial activity outside the interactive game.
What is Palworld Entertainment?
Palworld Entertainment, Inc. is a joint venture established by Pocketpair, Sony Music Entertainment (Japan), and Aniplex, according to their July 10, 2024 announcement. The release identifies Aniplex as a group subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment (Japan).
The venture’s stated remit is to develop Palworld’s reach and expand commercial activity around the intellectual property, including global licensing and merchandising. The companies specifically said those activities would be conducted outside the interactive game.
What will the company do?
Palworld Entertainment is responsible for Palworld licensing operations, and its official company page lists global licensing and merchandising as its main activities.

- Build your PALWORLD collection instantly with the Collectors Set by The Loyal Subjects.
- PALWORLD: The global phenomenon, multiplayer open world survival and crafting video game where players collect mysterious creatures called ‘Pals,’ is taking the action off screen with these all new and first ever Figures!
- SET INCLUDES: Chillet, Grizzbolt, and Relaxasaurus — for an all-in-one collectible showcase.
- FIGURES: Three 3-inch scale figures designed for posing and display.
- PACKAGED: In a premium display-ready window box.
The joint announcement’s first example was exclusive merchandise. The companies planned for it to debut at Pocketpair’s Bilibili World 2024 booth, with preorders through Aniplex and its subsidiaries Aniplex of America and Aniplex Shanghai. That was a plan for 2024; it does not establish that the products are currently available or in stock.
Is this a PlayStation deal or a change in Palworld ownership?
The announcement names Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) and Aniplex—not Sony Interactive Entertainment. It describes a licensing and merchandising venture outside the game, so it is not evidence of a PlayStation publishing agreement. The announcement also does not establish that Sony acquired Palworld or controls Pocketpair.

Pocketpair is the game developer and publisher named in the release; the new venture’s stated role is commercial activity around Palworld’s intellectual property beyond the game itself. The distinction matters because “Sony” can refer to separate companies within the wider corporate group.

The July 10, 2024 joint announcement said Palworld had reached 25 million total players after one month. That is a dated figure reported by the participating companies, not a current player count.
