How to read the trickier groups
Knickknacks
TCHOTCHKE, THINGAMAJIG, TRIFLE, and TRINKET fit the knickknack category. In particular, TCHOTCHKE belongs with the shelf-display words rather than the similarly spelled TRI- words.
The “three” prefix
TRIANGLE, TRIDENT, TRILLION, and TRILOBITE share the prefix associated with three. TRIANGLE is not one of the instruments; it belongs in this group.
