How Strands hints work
Parade relays the New York Times’ instructions: “The spangram describes the puzzle’s theme and touches two opposite sides of the board. It may be two words.” Theme words fill the board without overlapping. Found theme words remain highlighted in blue. Drag or tap letters to form a word; when tapping, double-tap the final letter to submit it.
Finding three non-theme words earns an in-game hint that reveals the letters of a theme word. If a hint is already active, the next hint shows the letters in their correct order.
