The Sandbox said creators had published more than 1,000 experiences on The Sandbox Map by March 25, 2024. The figure counted published experiences—not players, wallet-connected accounts, or creators—and it is a historical milestone, not a confirmed current total.
What the 1,000 milestone counted
The Sandbox’s March 25, 2024 announcement said creators had published more than 1,000 experiences on its virtual map. The company described the catalog as including adventure games, racing experiences, and replicas of famous cities. It tied the milestone to a self-publishing tool that let users release experiences and view traffic performance. The Sandbox’s announcement is the primary source for the figure.
“Experience” here means a creator-published destination or game on The Sandbox Map. It does not mean 1,000 individual creators or 1,000 active players. GamesBeat reported the milestone contemporaneously, adding independent coverage of the announcement and its reward-pool news.
Experiences, accounts, and creators are different measures
Other figures published around the milestone describe different kinds of activity and should not be added together or treated as a single audience count.

How publishing fit into The Sandbox’s creator push
The Sandbox announced open publishing in November 2023 and said it planned to reach 2,000 user-generated experiences on its map in 2024. The later 1,000-plus figure represented progress toward that stated target; the available announcements do not confirm whether the target was reached. The November 2023 announcement also described a 100 million SAND Game Maker Fund.

That is a company-reported cumulative figure spanning several sources of creator income; it is not a stated payout per experience. The milestone post provides the figure and its context.

What the milestone does—and does not—show
Reaching more than 1,000 published experiences showed that The Sandbox’s open-publishing push had produced a sizable catalog by March 2024. By itself, the total says nothing about how many people played those experiences, how often they were visited, or how many remained available later. The company’s mention of a tool for viewing traffic performance is not a disclosure of traffic results.
Likewise, the 2,000 target was a plan, not proof of a later result. In a September 2024 look back, The Sandbox discussed its creator journey, but the available reporting still does not establish a current map total. The September 2024 update should not be read as confirmation that the target was met.
