Hints for the May 8 Connections puzzle
The New York Times describes Connections as a game where players receive 16 words and find four groups of four that share something in common. Yellow is the easiest category and purple the trickiest, but some words can appear to fit more than one group. You can play on NYT Games on the web or in the app; see the official Connections help page for the rules.
- Yellow: Think of ways to put ideas into written form.
- Green: These are things you might need for a game of Yahtzee.
- Blue: Each is a surname associated with a hero from an action-film franchise.
- Purple: Add the same word after each one to make a familiar compound.

The complete categories and words follow. The date-specific archive labels this as puzzle #737; some contemporaneous guides instead call it #697, so the date is the safer identifier.
