What resets when a scenario ends—and what carries over?
The Once Human development team’s August 13, 2024 explanation of seasons and scenarios says, “Your character won’t be deleted.” That does not mean every part of your current run carries forward: character leveling and Memetics reset according to scenario rules, while eligible assets and resources persist or transfer subject to restrictions.
Ordinary resources, medicine, ammunition, crafted equipment, and captured Deviations can transfer to Eternaland. You can bring multiple items into a new scenario, but the transfer is limited by Resource Points; the in-game transfer screen shows an item’s cost. Check it before choosing what to take rather than assuming your whole inventory is portable.
The same official explanation described a four-week settlement period for “our current scenarios” in 2024. That is a dated description, not a reliable current schedule. Scenario phases and durations can change, so use the live game’s scenario information for the current timeline.

What should you do in your first hour?
A beginner guide on the Once Human Wiki, updated July 28, 2026, recommends a simple order: progress the main quest, unlock your base system, then make targeted early upgrades. Treat this as fan-guide advice, not a mandatory route; your needs and scenario rules may differ.
- Follow the main quest and tutorial. They introduce the basic systems and lead toward the Territory Terminal. Avoid sinking early time into elaborate construction before you can establish your territory.
- Unlock the Territory Terminal. The beginner guide describes it as the base and respawn anchor. Once available, place it somewhere practical for the routes and resources you expect to use.
- Build for function first. Start with a compact setup that supports your immediate crafting and survival needs. The beginner guide favors proximity to water and ore, but there is no universally best location established in the sources reviewed.
- Spend Memetics against your next bottleneck. Ask what you need to craft or survive next, whether you can use the unlock soon, and whether it fits your playstyle. There is no single required early order.
How should you choose a scenario?
A scenario is the gameplay theme of a server, not just a map selection. The official developer explanation says scenarios may vary in rules, objectives, maps, survival mechanics, and duration. Compare the current in-game descriptions using these questions rather than relying on an old “best scenario” ranking.

- What is the focus? Check whether the scenario emphasizes PvE or PvP and whether its objectives suit how you want to play.

- How much group play fits? Consider whether the objectives and your preferred pace work for solo play, a group, or a mix.
- What is the phase structure? Scenarios unlock content in phases, and their duration varies. Confirm the live schedule and sign-up or settlement details in game.
- What happens at transfer? Check the scenario’s rules and the transfer screen so you understand which progression resets and which items can move.
Once Human’s official site listed an Isles of Abyss scenario final-test announcement dated August 30, 2026, another sign that scenario content continues to change. The 2024 developer explanation is useful for understanding the system, but current availability and specifics belong to the live game.
How do you avoid a Sanity spiral?
Sanity is easy to underestimate when you are focused on exploration or combat. The beginner guide recommends preparing food and water and choosing useful meals before difficult encounters. Treat that as practical player guidance: check current item descriptions and scenario rules for exact effects, since the details may change.

- Keep food and water available before leaving for a longer trip or a difficult fight.
- Check your condition and consumable effects rather than waiting until you are already struggling.
- Prepare for the particular encounter and environment; a meal or supply useful in one situation may not solve another.
What should you know about Deviations?
Deviations are not all interchangeable collectibles. The beginner guide describes them as serving roles such as combat companions or territory workers, while the unofficial Once Human Wiki guide hub, last updated September 9, 2026, organizes guidance by scenario and role. That context matters: do not assume there is one universally best Deviant for every player or scenario.
When deciding whether to pursue or use one, consider whether you need help in combat or want a territory task handled, then check current availability and effects for your selected scenario. Captured Deviations are among the item types the official transition explanation says can transfer to Eternaland, but that does not make every aspect of scenario progression permanent.

How can you avoid wasting Starchrom or blueprint resources?
The fan guide hub treats Wish Machine guidance as its own topic, and players commonly worry about spending Starchrom on the wrong progression choice. The practical check is to compare an unlock’s immediate benefit with its cost and your intended playstyle before committing. Ask whether it fixes a current crafting or survival problem, whether you can use it soon, and whether it helps the way you plan to play. The available sources do not establish a universal spending order or a single best build, so avoid treating a scenario-specific recommendation as a rule for every character.

Before a scenario ends: a transfer checklist
- Read the current scenario description and phase information in game; do not rely on an old schedule.
- Keep character level and Memetics resets in mind when planning your next run.
- Open the transfer screen and check each item’s Resource Point cost and the available limit before selecting what to carry.
- Separate items eligible for transfer from progression that resets under the scenario rules.
- Check current scenario-specific guidance for survival, Deviations, and builds before applying advice from an older run.
