Calling it “Stellar Blade crossed with Elden Ring” is a useful shorthand for the pitch, not proof that it plays like either game. The announced details point to its own approach, especially a system for summoning and swapping knight allies. Tides of Annihilation is an upcoming single-player action-adventure from Eclipse Glow Games. You play as Gwendolyn in a shattered London transformed by an otherworldly invasion. The official pitch is about fighting alongside trusted allies in a single-player game. Game Producer Kun Fu described the inspiration as “to capture the thrill of fighting alongside trusted allies in a single-player gaming experience” in the PlayStation.Blog announcement.
How does the knight combat work?
Gwendolyn wields a mysterious gray fog that manifests spectral knights. The official introduction describes her summoning two knights with distinct roles: some can charge or defend, while others help create combo opportunities. A later developer breakdown expands that idea into a system called Dual Frontline Battle.

Summon, swap, and chain attacks
In the Xbox Wire gameplay breakdown, the developers describe two sets of summons and the ability to swap knights during combat. Those swaps can extend combo chains or change tactics mid-fight. The breakdown also describes abilities such as stopping time and raising a defensive shield. These are features shown and discussed during development, not a verdict on how the finished game will feel or balance its encounters.
Control can extend beyond a summon
The same breakdown shows Sir Lamorak lending his power to Gwendolyn. In a sequence set inside a mirror Folded Realm, the player controls both Gwendolyn and Lamorak. That suggests the knights are more than background helpers, though the available descriptions do not establish how broadly this kind of direct control appears across the full game.
Why the London setting matters
The game’s London is not simply a modern city with fantasy enemies added. The official introduction describes recognizable districts and landmarks transformed into a sprawling battleground, with modern London connected to an Arthurian medieval realm in an in-between world.

That points to encounters that combine traversal and combat, rather than giant figures serving only as scenery. The precise structure of these sequences has not been fully established in the announced material.
Is it really like Stellar Blade or Elden Ring?
The comparison captures a broad expectation of action combat and spectacle, but it should not be read as a confirmed account of the game’s mechanics. The material released so far supports describing Tides of Annihilation as an Arthurian-inspired action-adventure centered on knight-linked combat and exploration. It does not establish that the game is a Soulslike or mechanically equivalent to Elden Ring or Stellar Blade.
Game director and co-CEO Ary Chen told GamesRadar, “This is ultimately an action game.” In the same GamesRadar interview coverage, Chen said the studio did not want simply to reproduce the existing King Arthur mythology. He also described the knight system as a way to support varied character builds and combat styles. These are the developer’s stated aims, not an independent assessment of the final game.

A hands-on preview offers one early impression: after playing two hours, Game Informer’s Wesley LeBlanc described the combat as having a low entry bar and a high mastery ceiling. That is one previewer’s experience, not a consensus or a guarantee about the final balance.
