To Mega Evolve Greninja, Delphox, or Chesnaught in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you need its matching Mega Stone: Greninjite, Delphoxite, or Chesnaughtite. The documented way to earn these stones is by rising through the ranks in the Z-A Battle Club’s online Ranked Battles. They are not normally available through regular gameplay, and the original reward seasons have passed; check the game’s Ranked Battle news for current availability and rank requirements.
Which Mega Stone does each Pokémon need?
| Pokémon | Mega Stone | Original reward season |
|---|---|---|
| Greninja | Greninjite | Season 1 |
| Delphox | Delphoxite | Season 2 |
| Chesnaught | Chesnaughtite | Season 3 |
The Pokémon Company announced this original order on September 12, 2025, describing the stones as promotion rewards for online Ranked Battles. The announcement does not establish the active season, its dates, or the rank needed now. Check the current in-game Ranked Battle news rather than relying on the historical season schedule. The official Mega Stone announcement also says only one of each kind can be held or received, so you cannot claim another as a Ranked Battle reward if you already have that stone.

How to get the Mega Stones
- Open the Z-A Battle Club and enter online Ranked Battles.
- Check the current Ranked Battle news for the season’s reward and promotion requirements.
- Rise in rank until you meet the promotion requirement for the stone you want. The reward is tied to being promoted, not simply completing a battle or waiting for a season to end.
- Claim the reward through the Ranked Battle screen if prompted, then have the matching Pokémon hold its Mega Stone to Mega Evolve.
The original announcement says Greninjite, Delphoxite, and Chesnaughtite cannot normally be obtained through regular gameplay. It also says future redistribution of promotion-reward stones was planned, but does not confirm whether any particular stone is available in the current season. A Nintendo Account, internet access, and Nintendo Switch Online membership are required for online features; availability varies by country. See Pokémon’s online-feature and reward details.
If you reached the required rank but did not get Delphoxite
A claim problem affected some players who met the Season 2 rank requirement for Delphoxite. Pokémon’s November 27, 2025 notice said the issue was fixed in version 1.0.3. After updating, affected players could access the Ranked Battle screen to claim the reward. Read the version 1.0.3 update notice.

Does the Pokémon Champions promotion give these stones in Z-A?
No. Pokémon’s February 27, 2026 announcement describes a separate promotion: eligible Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja obtained in Z-A can be sent through Pokémon HOME to Pokémon Champions to claim the corresponding Mega Stones in Champions. It does not say those stones can be transferred back to Z-A. The announcement excludes Pokémon befriended outside Z-A. See the Pokémon HOME and Champions announcement.
