Which new characters arrived in Season 5?
Gambit launched with Season 5
Gambit was the new playable hero in the November 14 update. The patch notes also introduced Times Square, a non-combat social map for players to interact and hang out, and added Gambit’s lore entry, “Deal of a Lifetime.” Other launch content included an in-game battle pass with ten costume sets, the Elders’ Chessboard event, interactive emotes, and fully available cross-progression account linking. These were digital game features and content, not a physical Season 5 product. Season 5 patch notes

Rogue arrived in Season 5.5
Rogue became playable in the December 12 update. NetEase described her as a Vanguard who combines strength with Chronovium energy and power absorption. Her kit can absorb abilities after taking down an enemy hero, gaining buffs based on the defeated hero’s role and sometimes stealing a signature ability. Her ultimate drains ultimate energy from nearby enemies. The update also added her lore entry, “Forever Alone.” Season 5.5 patch notes · NetEase’s Rogue announcement
What are the romantic themes in Season 5?
The launch notes present Gambit and Rogue embarking on a honeymoon “full of surprises” in a cosmic paradise created by the Elders of the Universe. They name the season’s story serial “Love is a Battlefield.” The Season 5 Dev Vision similarly describes its tone as moving “From cosmic chaos to heartfelt duels.” These are official promotional descriptions of the season’s premise and tone. Season 5.5 extends that setup: its patch notes say Rogue is “on a quest for her missing love.” Together, the announcements establish a romance-centered framing, a honeymoon setup, and a later search. They do not provide the complete narrative or establish its ending, so the official material cited here supports the premise—not a claim about how the story resolves. Season 5.5 patch notes
