The remaster guide describes nine ranks, a late match against three opponents, and a final title challenge against Agronak gro-Malog, the Gray Prince. Complete Agronak’s “Origin of the Gray Prince” quest before challenging him if you want its story context before the title bout.
How to join the Imperial City Arena
- Go to the Arena district in the Imperial City and enter the Bloodworks.
- Speak with Owyn, the Arena Blademaster, to arrange your first match and begin the Arena questline.
- Fight the scheduled opponent. After winning, return to Owyn to report the result, collect the match reward, and learn what comes next.
The Arena is a side quest built around matches and rank progression; Owyn is the contact for arranging bouts and moving the quest forward. The Game8 Arena ranks and rewards guide, last updated May 20, 2025, describes nine ranks, though its full rank and reward list is not available in the excerpt.
How Arena matches, ranks, and rewards work
Winning a bout does not itself complete the next step: return to Owyn after each win to close out the match, receive its reward, and get the next match or promotion bout. The available reward figures are only a partial list, so they should not be treated as a complete progression table.
| Rank or match | In-game reward |
|---|---|
| First Pit Dog match | 50 gold |
| Bloodletter | 150 gold |
| Myrmidon | 200 gold |
| Warrior | 250 gold |
These are in-game match rewards reported by Game8 in 2025, not real-world prices. The guide excerpt does not establish the rewards for every rank or bout, so the unlisted amounts cannot be reliably filled in here.
#1 Best Overall
- Live another life in another world, create and play any character you can imagine
- An all-new combat and magic system brings first person role-playing to a new level of intensity
- Groundbreaking AI system gives characters full 24/7 schedules
- New lands to explore in the Shivering Isles expansion
- Challenging new foes, hideous insects, Flesh Atronachs, skeletal Shambles, amphibeous Grummites and more
Promotion matches
Expect advancement to include promotion matches as you climb the ranks. Once Owyn gives you the next bout, complete it and report back to him rather than assuming a victory advances the quest automatically.
Preparing for the Champion match
The match to reach Champion is described as a fight against three opponents, including the Yellow Team Champion. That changes the problem from handling one enemy to managing several threats; no particular build or combat style is established as required.
- Single-target damage or crowd control: focus damage to remove one opponent quickly, or use the control tools available to you to manage multiple enemies.
- Melee, ranged attacks, or magic: choose the approach that suits your character and lets you keep pressure on opponents without losing track of the others.
- Survivability or speed: prioritize staying alive if you struggle to recover between attacks; favor a faster finish if your character can handle the incoming pressure.
These are general choices for a multi-opponent fight, not a tested ranking of Arena builds or a guaranteed strategy.
Why complete the Gray Prince quest before the title challenge?
Agronak gro-Malog, known as the Gray Prince, is the opponent in the final challenge for the title. Game8 recommends completing his “Origin of the Gray Prince” quest first. Doing so preserves that quest’s story and context before you face him; the available guide details do not establish a specific extra outcome for the title match, so do not treat one as guaranteed.

Why Arena progression may stall
If the Arena quest stops advancing or Owyn does not recognize your Arena Raiment, Bethesda Support recommends these troubleshooting steps. They are possible fixes, not guaranteed solutions.
- Reload a save made before entering the Arena area.
- Fast travel out of the quest area, then return.
- For a raiment-recognition issue, cast a bound-equipment spell such as Bound Gauntlets or Bound Armor. Remove the summoned equipment by dispelling it or waiting for its effect to expire, re-equip the Arena Raiment, and speak with Owyn again.
- Leave the Arena area, wait or sleep for three in-game days, then return.
- Exit and restart the game.
- If you use mods or add-ons, disable and remove them, then check whether the quest progresses.
Bethesda also recommends saving before entering the Arena and between rounds. See Bethesda Support’s Arena progression troubleshooting for its guidance.

What to do after a match
After each bout, return to Owyn to claim the reward and receive the next match or advancement. The available remaster guide supports the progression through the Gray Prince title challenge, but does not provide enough detail to describe later Grand Champion steps reliably.
