There is no universally best Faith/Strength build in Elden Ring: the strongest starting point is to decide whether Strength or Faith will lead your damage, then choose weapons, affinities, and incantations to match. For a melee-first hybrid, consider Heavy or Fire weapons and the Clawmark Seal for eligible offensive incantations. For a Faith-led melee build, consider Flame Art or Sacred weapons and invest more in Faith. Blasphemous Blade is a possible unique-weapon route, not a proven winner for every character.
Choose a Strength-led or Faith-led route
Before assigning damage stats, decide what you want the character to do most. Splitting points evenly between Strength and Faith is not automatically optimal; your weapon requirements, chosen affinity, casting role, and level budget determine where points are useful.
| Route | Weapon direction | Incantation and seal direction | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strength-led hybrid | Heavy for Strength-focused physical damage, or Fire to add fire damage while retaining Strength scaling | Clawmark Seal is a candidate for damaging incantations that benefit from both Strength and Faith | Melee-first combat with some offensive incantations |
| Faith-led melee hybrid | Flame Art for Faith-scaling fire damage, or Sacred for Faith-scaling holy damage | Put more points into Faith and select a seal based on your Faith level and chosen incantations | Stronger Faith damage and access to more Faith-requirement options |
| Unique-weapon route | Blasphemous Blade, a named candidate with fixed requirements and a distinct skill | Meet the weapon’s requirements, then add Faith for the incantations you actually plan to use | Players who want to build around a particular unique weapon |
Compare your primary damage stat, weapon requirements and moveset, damage type, casting role, and available levels. The evidence available does not establish one setup as best across all players or all stages of the game.
What stats should you use?
Set a damage-stat priority
Strength contributes to the damage of Strength-scaling weapons; Faith increases the power of Faith-scaling incantations. With a Strength-led setup, prioritize the needs of your weapon and melee plan before adding Faith for your selected spells. With a Faith-led setup, invest more heavily in Faith and choose a weapon affinity that rewards it. Do not spend levels on both damage stats without a weapon, spell, or other build reason.

There is no single allocation supported for every character. First account for the requirements of your chosen weapon and the defensive needs of your playthrough; then distribute remaining levels according to whether melee or incantations are your main damage source. A secondary guide’s level-150 Blasphemous Blade example proposes around 50–60 Vigor, roughly 50 Strength, and 40 Faith. Those numbers are one PvE template, not an official build specification or a universal target.
Choose a weapon affinity that matches your main damage stat
For weapons that allow affinity selection, the reviewed affinity guide describes the options this way:
- Heavy: Strength scaling without added elemental damage.
- Fire: Strength scaling with added fire damage.
- Flame Art: Faith scaling with fire damage.
- Sacred: Faith scaling with holy damage.
Start with a moveset you enjoy, then use an appropriate affinity to align its scaling with your main damage stat. Available affinities depend on the weapon and its Ash of War; whetblades unlock additional affinity choices. The affinity guide was updated September 11, 2026, and cautions that values may change with balance updates. See the Elden Ring Wiki’s weapon scaling, affinities, and upgrade path guide for its mechanics reference.
Understand upgrade and Ash of War differences
The same guide describes ordinary weapons as upgrading with Smithing Stones to +25 and unique somber weapons as upgrading with Somber Smithing Stones to +10. Somber weapons generally have fixed scaling and a unique skill rather than interchangeable Ashes of War. Check the weapon itself before planning an infusion or skill around it.

Is Blasphemous Blade a good Faith/Strength weapon?
It is a viable named option if you want a build centered on a unique weapon and its distinct skill. TimeSaver.gg’s September 29, 2026 guide lists its requirements as 22 Strength, 15 Dexterity, and 21 Faith, and gives the level-150 PvE template described above. These are that guide’s figures and proposal; they do not make Blasphemous Blade the objectively best choice. Consider whether its requirements fit your level budget and whether you prefer its moveset and skill to other weapons available to your build.
When does the Clawmark Seal fit?
The Clawmark Seal is a hybrid option for damaging incantations, not a universal best seal. Eldenpedia describes it as scaling with Strength and Faith, with its Strength component able to benefit from two-handing. That Strength contribution does not improve healing or weapon-buff incantations, so it may not fit a character whose casting is mainly support-oriented. Eldenpedia also says other seals can outperform it for raw damage at higher Faith; that is a mechanics reference, not a guarantee for every spell or patch. Check the seal and spell details for the role you intend to use.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which incantations and Ashes of War should you choose?
There is not enough item-level evidence here to prescribe one definitive spell bar or Ashes of War rotation. Choose spells for the role your build actually needs—offensive damage, healing, or weapon buffs—and make sure the seal suits that role and your stat focus. For weapon skills, first confirm that your weapon accepts an interchangeable Ash of War; then choose an available skill and affinity that support your chosen damage route.
Balance changes can affect recommendations. Bandai Namco’s official Version 1.04 patch notes, dated April 19, 2022, document historical balance changes affecting colossal weapon classes and incantations, including named lightning, fire, black flame, and beast incantations. They do not establish the current patch version or identify today’s strongest choices, so verify the current in-game regulation rather than treating old patch notes as a present-day ranking.
