To take down an enemy in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, crouch, get behind an unaware target, and wait for the on-screen action prompt. Choose a knockout for a temporary, non-lethal takedown; to kill silently, equip the in-game dagger first. Follow the prompt shown in your game rather than relying on a button guide for another platform.
How to perform a stealth takedown
- Watch the target. Check their patrol and look for nearby characters who could witness the attempt.
- Crouch and approach from behind. Stay out of the target’s direct view and avoid noisy movement as you close the distance.
- Wait for the action prompt. Act only when the game offers the takedown option. The on-screen prompt is the best guide to the required input for your platform and settings.
- Choose the outcome. Use the knockout option for a non-lethal takedown, or choose the kill option if you intend to kill and have the in-game dagger equipped.
- Leave or hide the body. If someone could discover an unconscious target, move the body somewhere less visible or leave the area.
Stealth depends on more than darkness or a single gear statistic. Sight, noise, visibility, and how conspicuous your outfit is can all affect whether you are detected. The KCD2.org stealth guide, updated September 19, 2026, advises treating stealth as a combination of these factors, not as guaranteed invisibility.

Knockout or stealth kill: which should you choose?

The Takedown perk is listed as available by default in the KCD2 stealth reference. A knockout and a dagger-enabled kill are separate outcomes, so make the choice that fits your goal before acting.
Why the stealth-kill prompt may not appear
Check the dagger and your position
Confirm that the in-game dagger is equipped, the target has not noticed Henry, and you are positioned behind them. The KCD2.org guide and GamesRadar+ guide identify the dagger as necessary for the lethal takedown.

If the target spots you
Reconsider your approach, movement noise, distance, lighting, and whether the target is actually unaware. Darkness by itself does not guarantee that you will remain unseen.
If nearby characters investigate
Witnesses, patrols, noise, and a body left in view can draw attention. Leave the suspicious area and allow it to calm before returning.
