Can a librarian sell Swift Sneak?
The available documentation does not support Swift Sneak as a librarian trade. Librarians can offer enchanted books generally, but that does not mean every enchantment is included in their trade pool. Mojang’s Java Snapshot 22w13a notes identify Ancient City chests as a place to find Swift Sneak; the Minecraft Wiki’s Java Edition 1.19 summary says it is exclusive to those chests and cannot be obtained by fishing, enchanting, or other loot chests.

Where to find Swift Sneak
Search chests in an Ancient City, which generates in the Deep Dark. Mojang’s snapshot notes specifically describe Swift Sneak as being found in chests there, guarded by sculk sensors and shriekers. The exhaustive claim that Ancient City chests are its only source comes from the Minecraft Wiki, rather than the cited Mojang announcement.
How to use the Swift Sneak book
- Find a Swift Sneak enchanted book in an Ancient City chest.
- Place the book and a pair of leggings in an anvil to apply the enchantment. Microsoft’s Minecraft Creator enchanting documentation explains combining an enchanted book with an item using an anvil.
What Swift Sneak does
Swift Sneak is an enchantment for leggings that increases movement speed while crouching. Mojang’s Java Edition 1.19 release notes describe its effect as letting you move “as fast while crouching as you would normally walk.”

Bedrock villager-trade experiments
Minecraft’s Bedrock 1.20.30 update notes describe librarian-trade rebalancing as an experiment: the experiment introduced biome-specific book trades and removed some enchantments from village trading. The cited notes do not name Swift Sneak, so they do not establish that it is a librarian trade under that experiment. This experimental context is separate from the documented Ancient City chest route.
