Other optional encounters depend on side-quest chains, while some missed content can be revisited after the final boss. This guide separates a fight becoming unavailable from losing a reward or secret-area route.
What “missable” means in Black Myth: Wukong
Guides use “missable” for several different outcomes. A boss encounter can become unavailable after a trigger; a fight can remain available while its Spirit reward is lost; a quest or secret area can be cut off; or the game may still allow cleanup in postgame free-roam. The checklist below identifies the specific consequence supported for each case rather than treating every optional boss as permanently missable.

The cutoff details below are reported by walkthroughs, not by an official developer checklist. For the broader missables list, see Game8’s “All Missables and Points of No Return”; encounter and quest sequences are also documented in PowerPyx’s boss guide and PowerPyx’s side-quest guide.
Chapter 1: Black Wind Mountain
Wandering Wight: defeat it before opening the secret area
If you want to fight Wandering Wight in this run, defeat it before ringing the final of the three bells. Ringing all three opens the secret Ancient Guanyin Temple, and the missables guide reports that entering the secret area first locks out the Wight encounter. The cutoff concerns the fight itself, not merely a reward.

Elder Jinchi: optional secret-area progression
Ringing all three bells opens Ancient Guanyin Temple, where Elder Jinchi is found. The walkthroughs describe this as optional secret-area progression; they do not identify Jinchi as a fight that becomes unavailable merely because you ring the bells. To avoid the known Chapter 1 lockout, clear Wandering Wight before ringing the last bell.
Horse NPC: finish the chapter’s dialogue
If you are following the Horse NPC’s cross-chapter sequence, speak to him in Chapter 1 and exhaust his dialogue before leaving the chapter. The sequence is chapter-sensitive, so treat each appearance as a checkpoint rather than assuming later conversations will make up for skipped dialogue.
Chapter 2: Yellow Wind Ridge
King of Flowing Sands and Second Rat Prince: protect the Spirit reward
Defeat the smaller King of Flowing Sands before defeating Second Rat Prince. PowerPyx specifies that this order is required to obtain the King’s Spirit. The documented missable is the Spirit reward; the guide does not say that defeating the larger rat removes the King’s boss fight.

Yellow-Robed Squire: unlock the Kingdom of Sahi route
The Drunken Boar’s quest leads to Chapter 2’s secret area, Kingdom of Sahi, and its bosses. Follow this sequence:

- Find a Sobering Stone and give it to him.
- Speak to him at Crouching Tiger Temple, then return as the quest directs.
- Defeat Yellow-Robed Squire to open the secret-area route.
The secret route includes a secret Tiger Vanguard and Fuban. This is a quest-gated optional route; the sources identify the chain and its progression but do not characterize every fight on it as an independently timed lockout.
Mad Tiger: use the Old-Rattle Drum at its three locations
Obtain the Old-Rattle Drum from Tiger’s Acolyte, then use it at the three locations indicated by the quest. The final interaction leads to a jump into the well and triggers Mad Tiger. If you want this encounter, follow the drum prompts through to that final interaction rather than stopping after acquiring the item.

Horse NPC: exhaust Chapter 2 dialogue
Speak to the Horse NPC and exhaust his dialogue before advancing out of Yellow Wind Ridge if you are pursuing the cross-chapter sequence.
Chapter 3: The New West
Apramana Bat: optional encounter at Bitter Lake
PowerPyx places Apramana Bat at Bitter Lake’s North Shore. After defeating it, interact with the nearby large skeleton; the sequence triggers a cutscene and yields Turtle Tear. The walkthrough establishes this encounter and follow-up, but not a precise irreversible cutoff, so it should not be treated as a confirmed permanently missable boss.

Horse NPC and Old Man
Exhaust the Horse NPC’s dialogue before leaving Chapter 3 to continue his cross-chapter sequence. The Old Man’s Chapter 3 appearance at Warding Temple is described by the guide as part of story progression, not an optional encounter that needs a separate cutoff warning.

Chapter 4: The Webbed Hollow and Purple Cloud Mountain
Purple Talismans: remove all four before completing Chapter 4
The missables guide says completing Chapter 4 first cuts off the Purple Talisman quest. Find and remove all four talismans before beating the chapter’s final boss or otherwise completing the chapter.
Scorpionlord: fight it before triggering Duskveil
Scorpionlord becomes unavailable if you trigger Duskveil without first fighting Scorpionlord in its arena. Defeat Scorpionlord before entering Duskveil’s encounter.
Daoist Mi: finish the secret boss sequence before Duskveil
Daoist Mi is another Chapter 4 secret boss with Duskveil as the cutoff: complete Daoist Mi’s quest and defeat him before defeating Duskveil. Handle both Scorpionlord and Daoist Mi before starting Duskveil rather than assuming the secret fights will remain afterward.

Horse NPC: continue the dialogue chain
The Horse NPC appears on the main path in Chapter 4, but the dialogue still matters to his cross-chapter quest. Speak with him and exhaust the available conversation before moving on.
Chapter 5: Flaming Mountains
Horse NPC: exhaust dialogue at Furnace Valley
Find the Horse NPC in the Element Cart at Furnace Valley and exhaust his dialogue. The documented sequence’s final string interaction becomes available only after defeating Chapter 5 and returning from Chapter 6; that later completion step is not itself a missable boss fight.
The walkthroughs cited here do not establish an exhaustive list of Chapter 5 boss lockouts. Continue checking NPC conversations and secret-area quest chains as you progress, but do not assume an additional exact boss cutoff without a confirmed trigger.
Chapter 6 and postgame cleanup
The guides cited here do not provide an exhaustive Chapter 6 missable-boss checklist, so this guide cannot confirm that every encounter there remains available. After the story’s end boss, PowerPyx reports that selecting Continue at the title screen returns you to the world before the final boss, allowing you to revisit locations and clean up some content. Choosing Enter a New Cycle starts New Game+. Postgame free-roam does not reverse encounter-specific lockouts that have already been triggered.
