Pokémon GO’s Gigantamax Garbodor Max Battle Day took place on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. local time. The event has ended. Gigantamax Garbodor appeared in six-star Max Battles, and the official announcement said a Shiny Garbodor might appear but did not publish an encounter rate.

When was Gigantamax Garbodor Max Battle Day?

The event ran Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. It is no longer active, so its event bonuses and ticket are historical details, not currently available offers. The Pokémon GO event announcement has the original schedule and terms.

What happened during the event?

Gigantamax Garbodor’s debut

Gigantamax Garbodor made its Pokémon GO Gigantamax debut in six-star Max Battles. The announcement said players might encounter a Shiny Garbodor, but did not state the odds; no specific Shiny rate can be inferred from that wording.

Event-day bonuses

From 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. local time on November 1, the announced bonuses included:

  • The Max Particle collection limit increased to 1,600.
  • All Power Spots hosted Gigantamax Battles, and Power Spots refreshed more frequently.
  • Players received eight times the usual Max Particles from Power Spots.
  • Players could make two additional Special Trades.

Separate exploration bonuses ran from midnight until 5:00 p.m. local time: twice the Max Particles from exploring and one-quarter of the usual Adventuring distance needed to receive them. To benefit, players first had to collect all Max Particles available in Nearby.

Lead-in research and the optional ticket

Timed Research was available from October 27 at 6:00 a.m. until November 1 at 5:00 p.m. local time. It offered a Dynamax Drilbur encounter, Candy and Max Particles. The announcement described Drilbur as a strong contender against Garbodor.

It unlocked event-exclusive Timed Research with one Max Mushroom and 25,000 XP, as well as twice the XP from Max Battles and a 5,600 Max Particle collection limit during the event. The ticket was sold in the in-game shop only until 5:00 p.m. local time on November 1, could not be bought with PokéCoins and was non-refundable subject to the stated legal terms. It has expired.

  • Made from non-toxic, child-friendly materials
  • Withstands intense play
  • Captures children's attention and imagination
  • Lightweight and easy to take anywhere
  • Stimulates active play and creativity
  • Up to four Trainers can challenge a Power Spot boss together.
  • Each Trainer brings three Pokémon, including at least one Max Pokémon. Only Dynamax or Gigantamax Pokémon can participate.
  • Starting a battle costs Max Particles; the amount depends on the boss’s power.
  • Attack and dodge to fight and fill the Max meter. Swiping toward battlefield energy fills it faster. When the meter fills, a Max Pokémon transforms for three turns.
  • If your party faints in a three-star or higher battle, you can cheer for teammates, but you cannot choose new Pokémon and rejoin before the battle ends.
  • If you lose, you can retry before the Power Spot closes without spending additional Max Particles. Particles are deducted only if the boss is defeated.
  • Victory grants special items and a chance to catch the boss. You can leave one Pokémon at the Power Spot after winning; it may help future players and earn Candy.

What did Max Mushrooms do?

During the event, the announcement described Max Mushrooms as temporarily doubling the damage dealt by Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon in Max Battles. Using more mushrooms extended the effect but did not increase the damage multiplier. To activate one, open the Item Bag while in a Max Battle lobby and use the mushroom before the battle.

How could players prepare for Garbodor?

The event announcement encouraged players to find other Trainers and recommended Campfire for locating nearby Max Battles, Flare activity and meetups. It did not give a guaranteed winning party size, and the general rules allowing up to four Trainers in a battle are not a promise that any fixed number will win. The announcement called Drilbur a strong contender, but did not publish a universally optimal team or detailed team-building guide.
