DanceDanceRevolution is the rhythm-game pick; DanceStar Party and DanceStar Party Hits lean into choreographed routines and group play; Everybody Dance combines solo practice with cooperative and competitive routines. PlayStation Move is relevant to all four, but check the exact edition and package before buying because older listings may not include the controller or camera.

DanceDanceRevolution: choose it for rhythm gameplay
The PS3 announcement from Naoki Maeda, a DanceDanceRevolution creator and composer, emphasized PlayStation Move support and described a mix of licensed contemporary artists and music from the Bemani team. It also discussed downloadable content as a plan at the time. That announcement does not establish whether online services or DLC remain available, so do not buy on the assumption that extra songs can still be downloaded.
Move is explicitly mentioned in the PS3 announcement, but confirm the control setup for the exact release you find. The historical announcement is not a universal compatibility guide for every region or mode.

DanceStar Party: routines, adjustable difficulty, and group play
PlayStation’s 2011 announcement described more than 40 hits and four choreographies per song, or 160 routines overall, with variable difficulty. It also highlighted creating partner dances, sharing performances, and an integrated weekly calorie counter. The counter is a game feature, not proof of calories burned or a measure of health benefit.
An E3 interview with Game Director Dave Ranyard described Dance Class, the create-your-own-dance feature, and party modes designed for groups to join and leave between turns. That makes it a natural choice when guests may rotate in and out rather than all playing at once.

DanceStar Party Hits: turn-taking party format
The 2012 retail announcement described 40 brand-new tracks and 160 new routines, alongside Dance Class and two-player Dance Partners. Its party mode was described as supporting up to 20 players taking turns across rounds. This is turn-taking, not a claim that 20 people dance simultaneously. The published number is a launch specification, not evidence of current online functionality.
Everybody Dance: solo practice and two-player competition
PlayStation’s announcement described 40 tracks, authentic music videos, solo play, cooperative partner routines, competitive dance battles, and Dance Class. It specifically named Move-controller and PlayStation Eye camera tracking. A bundle announced at the time paired the game with a Move controller and Eye camera, but that does not tell you what a current used-game seller includes.

Do PS3 dance games need Move?
Move is explicitly named in the PS3 DanceDanceRevolution announcement and in the DanceStar Party description; Everybody Dance’s announcement describes Move and PlayStation Eye tracking. PlayStation’s Move manual describes the controller as working with Move products to track and respond to physical movement. Requirements can vary by game, edition, mode, and region, so check the packaging or manual for the exact copy rather than assuming one setup applies to every release.
For a Move-based setup, account for the motion controller and, where the game’s setup calls for it, the PlayStation Eye camera. The official product descriptions do not establish that every current listing includes these accessories.

- Accessories: Check whether a Move controller and PlayStation Eye camera are included or must be sourced separately.
- Bundle contents: Treat historic bundle announcements as examples only; verify the contents of the specific seller’s package.
- Online extras: Do not assume old DLC, sharing, or online features are currently accessible.
