To complete Defending Broken Isles, accept it from Maiev Shadowsong at Deliverance Point before starting a Legion Assault. In the active Assault zone, finish four Assault world quests, complete the zone follow-up, then finish the three-player scenario. Turn in the scenario quest and return to Maiev to turn in Defending Broken Isles. The four world quests are only the first stage.
Before you start
Legion World Quests must be unlocked to participate in Legion Assaults. The first five Breaching the Tomb quests must also be complete before Defending Broken Isles becomes available: Armies of Legionfall, Assault on Broken Shore, Begin Construction, Aalgen Point, and Vengeance Point, according to Wowhead’s Legion Assault guide.
Find Maiev Shadowsong at Deliverance Point and accept the quest before you begin the Assault. A player report on the World of Warcraft Forums says completing the scenario first may not award quest credit.
Complete the Assault
- Find an active Assault. Open the Broken Isles continent map and look for the zone marked with a green demonic portal. Travel to that zone. The guide describes Assaults as six-hour events, but does not verify a live schedule for each region; use the in-game map to see what is active.
- Complete four Assault world quests. Do four quests marked for the Legion Assault. Ordinary world quests in the zone are replaced while the Assault is underway.
- Finish the zone follow-up. Continue the local quest phase to help clear the Assault. This may involve helping an ally cleanse the zone, filling a progress bar, and defeating enemies.
- Complete the three-player scenario. Queue for the scenario that attacks a Legion command ship and finish it.
- Turn in both quests. Turn in the scenario quest first, then return to Maiev at Deliverance Point and turn in Defending Broken Isles.
The Assault can take place in Azsuna, Val’sharah, Highmountain, or Stormheim. The available guides establish no completion advantage for one zone over another, so use an active Assault zone available to your character.

If the quest will not complete
- Maiev does not offer it: Check that Legion World Quests are unlocked and that all five listed Breaching the Tomb quests are complete.
- You did the scenario before accepting the quest: The forum report says this can prevent credit. Accept the quest before beginning an Assault when possible.
- You have four world quests done but the quest is incomplete: Complete the zone follow-up and scenario, turn in the scenario quest, and then return to Maiev.
- No Assault is active: Check the Broken Isles map again later. The guide describes six-hour Assault windows, but does not confirm the next event time.
Reward
Wowhead lists a one-time reward of 1,500 Armies of Legionfall reputation for completing Defending Broken Isles. This is a guide-reported in-game reward, not a recurring reward.
