To start the Knights of the Nine story expansion in Oblivion Remastered, go to Anvil and ask residents about the Knights. For the quickest route, speak to the man outside Anvil’s chapel. Bethesda says not to expect an immediate journal entry or a pop-up: the expansion begins through conversations and rumors.
Start the expansion in Anvil
- Travel to Anvil.
- Talk to residents and ask about the Knights of the Nine to hear the rumors that lead into the expansion.
- For a more direct start, find the man outside Anvil’s chapel and speak with him. Bethesda Support identifies this as the quicker route.
Bethesda Support explains that the expansion starts like other factions in Oblivion: you learn about it by hearing people talk and asking them for information. Bethesda’s beginner guide likewise recommends talking to NPCs and asking about rumors to uncover side quests.
Why there may be no quest notification
An immediate journal entry or start pop-up is not expected. Bethesda Support states that “The Knights of the Nine expansion does not create a journal entry immediately” and that “There is no pop-up message to start Knights.” If you have gone to Anvil but have not seen a notification, keep talking to residents about the Knights or speak with the man outside the chapel.
Is Knights of the Nine included in Remastered?
Yes. Bethesda lists the Knights of the Nine story expansion as included with both the Standard and Deluxe editions of Oblivion Remastered. You do not need the Deluxe edition or a separate Knights of the Nine purchase to access it. The edition breakdown from Bethesda Support and the official game page identify the included expansions and additional content. Bethesda’s April 22, 2025 launch announcement also says the Remaster includes previously released story expansions and additional DLC.
