There is no separate Xbox Live Rewards redemption program today. Xbox Live Rewards was folded into Microsoft Rewards, and current Xbox rewards are accessed through the Microsoft Rewards dashboard or the Rewards hub on Xbox. Sign in with the Microsoft account that holds the points, choose a reward shown as available in your region, and follow the on-screen prompts.
What happened to Xbox Live Rewards?
Xbox Live Rewards is the legacy program name. Microsoft announced in 2018 that accounts would migrate to Microsoft Rewards; the points and status were to transfer when the user used the same Microsoft account for both programs. Xbox now describes Rewards with Xbox as part of Microsoft Rewards. You do not need to find a separate Xbox Live Rewards balance or old redemption app. Xbox Wire’s 2018 migration announcement explains the transition, and Xbox’s Rewards page describes the current Xbox connection.
How to redeem Xbox-associated points
- Sign in to the right account. Use the Microsoft account that owns the Rewards points. Microsoft’s redemption guidance directs users to the Rewards dashboard to check their balance.
- Open Rewards. Go to the Microsoft Rewards dashboard, or open the Rewards hub from your profile on an Xbox console, in the Xbox mobile app, or in the Xbox app for Windows PC. Xbox lists these access points.
- Choose an available reward. Browse the offers shown for your account and market. Microsoft says eligible rewards appear when you have enough points; availability and point requirements can vary by country and account.
- Follow the displayed redemption and verification prompts. The exact screens and point cost depend on the reward and market, so use the current instructions shown for your account rather than relying on a fixed button sequence or price.
What can you redeem points for?
The available catalog varies. Xbox lists Xbox Gift Cards, which can be used for games and add-ons, alongside other possibilities such as sweepstakes entries, eligible hardware, donations, and applying points at Store checkout. These options may not all be offered to every account or in every region. Check the current Xbox Rewards catalog for what is available to you.
Point values depend on factors including local currency, Rewards level, and the number of points redeemed. Store checkout redemption is subject to eligibility limits; Xbox’s page says it applies to eligible purchases and excludes subscriptions. Confirm the terms and points required on the offer itself before redeeming.

Fix common redemption problems
The reward is missing or unavailable
Some gift cards may not always be in stock, and offers differ by country. Microsoft Support says it cannot provide restock or removal dates. Check the Rewards page while signed in to the account and region where you participate.
Redemption fails while traveling or in another region
Microsoft instructs users to redeem in the country where they signed up. Redeeming from another market, including while traveling, can trigger an error. Do not use a VPN or proxy to hide your location.

Phone verification does not work
Use an eligible mobile or landline number; VoIP numbers are not accepted. Microsoft states that a phone number can be associated with up to six accounts per household. If too many verification attempts have failed, wait 48 hours before trying again with the correct code and an eligible number.
Your points have expired
Microsoft says points expire after 12 months with no earning or redemption activity. Check the Rewards dashboard for your current balance and account activity.
