Chargers are armored enemies, so bring an anti-tank weapon and use it to expose a weak spot before concentrating follow-up fire there. You are more likely to encounter the Behemoth variant on higher difficulties, but Arrowhead’s patch notes do not specify exact spawn rates, mission rules, or a guaranteed location.
Where to find Chargers
Arrowhead Game Studios says Charger Behemoths join battles on higher difficulties in Patch 01.000.400. That patch also reduced armored-enemy counts, including Chargers on higher difficulties. It does not give exact difficulty thresholds or establish how often an ordinary Charger appears, so treat higher difficulty as a reason to be prepared—not a guarantee of a Charger or a particular variant.

How to kill a Charger
- Carry an anti-tank option. Arrowhead lists the Recoilless Rifle, SPEAR, EAT, Quasar, Commando, and Patriot Exosuit rockets as anti-tank tools.
- Take a deliberate shot. Aim for an exposed weak spot rather than spending shots on intact armor. A clean shot matters especially with weapons whose effectiveness depends on hitting that area.
- Follow up on exposed flesh. Once anti-tank damage opens the armor, focus fire on the exposed body instead of scattering shots across armored sections.
Arrowhead’s Patch 01.001.00 changed Charger armor and damage values on October 17, 2024. It lowered the Charger’s armor rating from 5 to 4 and belly armor from 4 to 2; exposed flesh on the main body deals 300% damage. The same patch lowered the Charger Behemoth’s butt weak-spot health from 1,200 to 950. These are dated balance notes, not guaranteed current breakpoints: later balance changes may have superseded them.
Which weapons work against Chargers?
Arrowhead’s October 17, 2024 balance notes describe these options as anti-tank tools. The distinctions below reflect those notes, not independent testing or a guarantee against every variant.

For a squad, weigh reliability against flexibility: a dedicated anti-tank pick helps answer armored threats, while a more flexible loadout can leave that job to a teammate. Coordinate so one player opens armor and others can put follow-up damage into the exposed area.

Community guidance suggests coordinating a clear shot at the head or focusing damage after armor has been opened. The community-maintained Helldivers Wiki’s Charger page also discusses exposing a leg and using fire or stratagems. Treat these as optional approaches, not proof of a single current best tactic; the wiki may retain outdated breakpoints.
