Palworld’s commonly reported defaults differ between keyboard and mouse and controller. On PC, the core keys are WASD to move, Space to jump, Shift to sprint, Q to throw a Pal Sphere, and E to summon or recall your active Pal. On an Xbox-style controller, the corresponding actions commonly use the left stick, A, LS press, RB, and LB. These are reference defaults, not guaranteed mappings for every platform or build; check the game’s Controls settings and the on-screen prompt for the action you need.
PC keyboard and mouse controls
The following are commonly reported keyboard-and-mouse defaults. A contextual action can change what a key does—for example, mount skills can use the same inputs as ordinary combat actions.
| Action | Common default | Context |
|---|---|---|
| Move | W / A / S / D | Forward, left, backward, and right |
| Jump | Space | Pressing Space again while descending can deploy an equipped glider, according to the listed reference |
| Sprint | Left Shift | Sprint may be set to toggle in control options |
| Roll / dodge | Left Ctrl | — |
| Crouch / slide | C | While riding, C may activate a mount skill instead |
| Attack / mounted skill 1 | Left mouse button | Mounted context can assign this to a ride skill |
| Aim / cancel Pal Sphere throw | Right mouse button | — |
| Reload | R | — |
| Change weapon | Mouse wheel | Listed by one detailed control reference |
| Throw Pal Sphere | Q | — |
| Summon / recall active Pal | E | Can be used for mounted skill 2 while riding |
| Interact | F | Follow the prompt shown for the current object or situation |
| Open build menu | B | — |
| Open world map | M | — |
| Open character menu / inventory | Tab | I is also listed as an alternate character-menu binding in one reference |
These inputs are reported defaults rather than a single official, universal control map. The controls pages used here are third-party references; for example, Palworld Database’s control guide was updated August 25, 2026: Palworld Database controls guide.
Controller controls: Xbox-style and PlayStation labels
The Xbox-style layout below is a common reference mapping. PlayStation labels shown alongside it are correspondences reported by a current guide, not a guarantee that every platform or prompt will use identical labels.

| Throw Pal Sphere | RB | R1 |
| Partner skill / reload | X | Square |
| Roll / crouch / slide; ride skill 3 | B | Circle |

| Aim | LT | L2 |
| Attack / ride skill 1 | RT | R2 |

On a controller, movement uses the sticks rather than WASD. Some buttons share jobs: B/Circle is listed for roll, crouch, or slide and a ride skill, while the attack input can activate a mounted skill. A controller-settings guide published September 11, 2026, lists the Xbox-style actions: ProGameTalk controller settings.
Map and menu shortcuts
These less prominent interface bindings come from a detailed reference and can be more sensitive to platform, version, or menu context. Confirm them in the current UI if a shortcut does not respond.

The Palworld.tools listing describes itself as a “1.0” UI-input table and distinguishes those UI inputs from basic movement and combat inputs: Palworld.tools controls.
How to change keybinds or controller buttons
- Open the game’s Settings or Options menu.
- Choose Controls. The exact menu wording can vary by platform.
- Select the Keyboard or Controller Pad section that matches your input device.
- Select the action or button binding you want to change, then follow the on-screen instructions to assign a new input.
- Return to gameplay and check the prompt for the action. If a binding is unclear or seems different, confirm it in the current Controls screen.
References describe remapping through the Controls menu, but do not establish that every platform or build exposes precisely the same labels or options. Keymap.io says its controls were checked against in-game Options on September 7, 2026 and updated October 3, 2026; those are the page’s stated check and update dates, not game patch dates: Keymap.io Palworld controls.

Why a control may not match the table
- You changed the binding: A customized key or button replaces the listed default. Check the relevant device section in Controls settings.
- The action is contextual: Riding, aiming, interacting, or navigating a menu can change what an input does. Read the on-screen prompt for the current context.
- Your platform or build differs: The references do not establish one complete official mapping verified across every platform and current build. Treat less common UI shortcuts as especially worth checking.
- You are using another input device: Keyboard-and-mouse keys do not answer a controller prompt, and controller glyphs may use different naming conventions on Xbox-style and PlayStation-style layouts.
Neither layout is established as objectively better. Keyboard and mouse use keys and mouse buttons; a controller uses sticks, face buttons, shoulders, and D-pad inputs. Which feels more convenient depends on your preferred input and how you handle repeated or overlapping actions.
