The Blackgaol Knight is found in the Western Nameless Mausoleum in Gravesite Plain, west of the Scorched Ruins Site of Grace. Move sideways as you approach to evade his opening crossbow volley, then punish reloads and attack recovery with one or two hits. Heavy attacks can interrupt him, but no definitive elemental weakness is established.
Where is the Blackgaol Knight?
From the Scorched Ruins Site of Grace, travel west across Gravesite Plain, heading toward the dead trees and glowing worms. Look for a small opening that descends into the Western Nameless Mausoleum; the fog door inside leads to the Knight. The mausoleum is northwest of the DLC starting area. You can ride Torrent past nearby flying enemies and worms on the way.
What is the Blackgaol Knight weak to?
There is no confirmed numerical resistance profile or definite elemental weakness established by the cited guides. Their practical advice points instead to stance damage and interruption: heavy weapons and heavy attacks can stagger or interrupt the Knight, opening a chance to deal extra damage. Treat a stagger as an opportunity, not a guaranteed stun loop.
One guide reports that he has no known weakness to common status ailments. That is guide-level advice, not a verified game-data resistance table, so do not count on a particular status effect to carry the fight.

How to beat the Blackgaol Knight
Close in without taking the opening volley
As soon as the fight begins, lock on and sprint toward him while moving sideways or along a curve. The lateral movement helps avoid the rapid crossbow volley while closing distance. Standing back or retreating gives him room to reload and fire again, so focus on getting close rather than trading shots at range.
Punish openings, then reset
Attack after the volley or while he reloads. Once you are close, keep your punish short: land one or two hits, recover stamina, and watch for his next attack. His melee strikes hit hard, and overcommitting can leave you exposed.

- Dodge overhead strikes, jumping attacks, and combo attacks to the side.
- When he raises his greatsword and sends out a spirit-energy slash, dodge sideways. Watch for a follow-up sweep before attacking.
- Use heavy attacks or other stance-damaging moves when you have a safe opening; an interruption can create time for extra damage.
The crossbow volley and recovery after selected attacks are the clearest opportunities to deal damage. You can try to interrupt his healing animation, but its timing is narrow; do not make that the foundation of your plan.
Plan for one heal and limited support
The Knight heals once at about half health or just past it. Spirit Ashes are not available in this encounter according to the consulted guides, so plan to handle the fight without summon support.

Decide whether to return later
Scadutree Blessings can improve your survival in the Land of Shadow. Shacknews recommends collecting at least one or two before fighting him; Push Square lists level 150 as a recommendation. These are guide suggestions, not required thresholds. If his attacks are overwhelming you, exploring for more blessings and returning later is a reasonable option.
