Fortnite added the Tesla Cybertruck as an in-game vehicle cosmetic in July 2024. Epic’s original route to earn it was a nine-quest Summer Road Trip challenge; the company also announced a later Item Shop release. Some players joked that the conspicuous truck made its driver a target, but that reaction is anecdotal—not evidence of a measurable gameplay disadvantage.
What the Cybertruck is in Fortnite
Epic announced the Tesla Cybertruck on July 23, 2024, as part of its Summer Road Trip promotion. It is a vehicle body equipped as an SUV, not a new real-world vehicle or a weapon. The announcement listed the Tesla Cybertruck Car Body, four decals—CyberCamo, Matte Black, Stainless Steel, and OMG—and Cyber Wheels in the bundle. Completing the event’s nine quests also awarded the Beast Mode Cybertruck Boost. Epic’s announcement said eligible bundle items and the boost could be used across Fortnite and Rocket League; it described the Baja Off-Road decal as exclusive to Summer Road Trip.

How the original quest route worked
Epic’s 2024 event ran through the release of v30.40 on August 6. Quests unlocked on a rolling schedule from July 23 to July 31, and players had through August 6 to complete them. The tasks involved earning XP in creator-made islands or, when playing with a party, across Fortnite modes including Battle Royale, LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival. Completing all nine quests earned the Cybertruck Bundle and Beast Mode Boost.
What Epic said about buying it
Epic announced that the Cybertruck Bundle and Beast Mode Boost would be purchasable in the Fortnite Item Shop starting August 6, 2024. That was a historical announcement, not confirmation that the items are available now. The Cybertruck shop page currently redirects to the general shop with an item-not-available parameter, so check the in-game shop for current availability rather than assuming the bundle is on sale. Why some players called it a target
In a September 2024 Fortnite community discussion, one commenter described the truck as putting “a giant Target on someone’s back.” That captures a player’s impression of the conspicuous vehicle, not an official finding. The available evidence does not establish how often Cybertruck drivers were targeted, whether the vehicle caused more attacks, or whether using it changed match outcomes.
