Dragon Age: The Veilguard does not give every Rook access to the same weapon set: available weapon families depend on class. This guide maps the confirmed weapon types by class and slot, explains how Rook’s weapons differ from companion equipment, and clarifies what is—and is not—established about a complete item-by-item list.
Weapon types by Rook’s class
Rook’s class determines which weapon families appear in a playthrough. The table lists the weapon types documented for each class; it is a taxonomy, not a complete catalogue of individual named weapons, their stats, or their locations. The class and slot breakdown comes from the Dragon Age Wiki’s Weapons (The Veilguard) reference, accessed October 8, 2026.
| Class | Main hand | Off hand | Two-handed or ranged |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rogue | Broadswords, sabers | Longswords, rapiers | Longbows, shortbows |
| Warrior | Longswords, axes | Heaters, targes (shields) | Mauls, great axes |
| Mage | Orbs (arcane or elemental) | Daggers, including mageknives or spellblades | Staves (arcane or elemental) |
How the weapon families differ
For slots with two listed weapon types, the wiki says their functionality does not differ beyond each weapon’s individual attributes. Weapon appearances may be shared between the two types in a slot, with one exception: longbow and shortbow appearances are not interchangeable.
Companion weapons are separate from Rook’s
Companions have their own equipment and cannot equip Rook’s weapons. For example, Lucanis uses main-hand daggers, while Neve uses one-handed scepters. Lucanis’s daggers are a companion weapon type, not the mage off-hand mageknives or spellblades listed for Rook.

Where weapons come from
The accessible reference identifies three acquisition routes for weapons: finding them in the world, buying them from shops, and receiving them as quest rewards. Rook only encounters weapons usable by Rook’s current class. The reference does not provide a complete, individually verified list of item locations, quest prerequisites, or missable weapons, so those details cannot be reliably supplied here.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does this cover every named weapon?
No. The table above is a class-and-type guide, not a verified exhaustive inventory of every named weapon, its damage type, attributes, effects, or location. Game8’s search result describes a list organized by weapon name, type, class or companion, damage type, and effects, but the page could not be checked and its result indicated the list was still in progress. It should not be treated as a confirmed complete catalogue: Game8’s “List of All Weapons” page (search result updated November 25, 2024).
