EA said they did not: the pack’s proceeds were not allocated to charity. EA also said it made a separate donation to the National Ranger Association, but did not disclose an amount.
What was the “Lead the Way” Pack?
Electronic Arts announced the paid Battlefield 6 and REDSEC bundle on November 10, 2025, with in-game store availability scheduled to begin November 11. EA said the pack was created with insights from the National Ranger Association and drew on U.S. Army Ranger culture.
EA listed the bundle at an $11.99 USD MSRP. Its contents were:
- The “Regiment” NATO Assault Soldier Skin
- The “Hold Fast” Glider 96 Vehicle Skin
- The “Legacy Strike” M277 Weapon Package
- A soldier patch, dog tag, and parachute
- A 60-minute Battle Pass XP Boost
- One Battle Pass Tier Skip
That price and availability describe EA’s November 2025 announcement, not a guarantee that the pack is currently on sale or still costs the same.

Why did the pack prompt criticism?
The dispute was about the relationship between the bundle’s presentation and its sales terms. The pack was announced just before Veterans Day in the United States and used Ranger-themed imagery and items. Some players objected that buying it did not contribute to charity. In a November 10, 2025 Reddit discussion, one commenter wrote, “As a vet im pretty livid about this one.” That is an individual reaction, not evidence of how veterans or Battlefield players broadly felt.
EA’s announcement drew a clear distinction between the pack’s sales and its own donation: “While proceeds of the Lead the Way Pack are not allocated to charity, our independent donation to the National Ranger Association helps advance their important work for the Ranger community.” EA said that separate donation supported Ranger scholarships, special experiences, critical needs for Ranger families, and development of a Ranger Community Center. It also said it would be headline sponsor of the upcoming Best Ranger Competition. EA did not state the donation amount.

- Battlefield 6 Phantom Edition (disc) for Playstation 5 contains the full game

- All-out war, fast-paced close-quarters combat, tactical destruction – Welcome to the definitive Battlefield experience
- THE NEW STANDARD OF FPS COMBAT: With overhauled gunplay and tactical movement, from crouch sprint to drag and revive, every shot and movement is more instinctual and precise
- MORE WAYS TO BATTLE: Victory, however you envision it; Seize glory in iconic, large-scale modes including Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush; Fight in iconic locations all over the world including Cairo, Brooklyn, Gibraltar and more
So the two claims are not interchangeable: pack purchases were not designated as charitable contributions, while EA said it made a separate donation. The available announcement does not establish that a buyer’s purchase increased that donation.
How this differed from the “Wicked Grin” skin backlash
Battlefield 6 had a separate cosmetic argument in October 2025 over “Wicked Grin,” a variant NATO assault outfit with bright-blue camouflage found in an early Season 1 build. PC Gamer reported disagreement over whether the look conflicted with the game’s grounded cosmetic direction; the skin was described as a free store gift. That debate concerned visual style, not charity proceeds.

What is—and is not—established about the backlash
The Reddit discussion records examples of player objections and also comments noting EA’s separate donation. It does not measure the scale of the reaction, establish that the commenters represented the player base, or show that every buyer understood the donation terms in the same way. The firmest account of the bundle’s terms is EA’s own announcement: proceeds were not allocated to charity, and the company described its donation as independent.
EA later announced a Battle Pass return policy on July 10, 2026: selected eligible items from previous passes may return to the store starting with Season 4, no sooner than three months after the original pass ends. The policy excludes Battle Pass Instant Unlocks, BF Pro Instant Unlocks, and Ultimate and Prestige Path items; EA also says timing, availability, and selection can change and are not guaranteed. That policy does not establish that the “Lead the Way” Pack, or any particular item in it, is currently available.
