The four groups are STATED, NICKNAME, OBVIOUS, and words that pair with “house.” The trickiest word is PRONOUNCED: it can suggest speaking, but here it belongs with things that are obvious.

The puzzle’s 16 words were MARKED, SAID, SPOKE, WHEEL, CLEAR, HANDLE, PORTER, PRONOUNCED, DESIGNATION, ROUGH, STRIKING, MONIKER, TOLD, SOBRIQUET, POWER, and VOICED. The solved groups are:
| Category | Words | Connection |

| NICKNAME | DESIGNATION, HANDLE, MONIKER, SOBRIQUET | Words for a name or nickname |
| OBVIOUS | CLEAR, MARKED, PRONOUNCED, STRIKING | Words describing something readily noticeable |
| ___HOUSE (that aren’t houses) | PORTER, POWER, ROUGH, WHEEL | Each forms a familiar compound with “house” |
The groups and full word bank are reported by TechRadar and independently corroborated by Tom’s Guide via inkl.
How the four groups fit
STATED: SAID, SPOKE, TOLD, VOICED
Each word can describe communicating something. “Voiced” is the less direct match, but it fits the sense of expressing an opinion or thought aloud.

NICKNAME: DESIGNATION, HANDLE, MONIKER, SOBRIQUET
These are terms for names or labels, including informal or alternative names. “Sobriquet” is the most literary-sounding member of the set; it means a nickname.
OBVIOUS: CLEAR, MARKED, PRONOUNCED, STRIKING
All four can describe something conspicuous or easy to recognize. Here, “pronounced” means clearly noticeable or strongly marked—not spoken aloud.
Rank #2
___HOUSE: PORTER, POWER, ROUGH, WHEEL
Put “house” after each word and the compounds appear: porterhouse, powerhouse, roughhouse, and wheelhouse. The category’s wording warns that these are not literal houses.
The trap: PRONOUNCED
PRONOUNCED can pull a solver in two directions. It can refer to saying a word aloud, which makes it look like a fit for STATED, but it also means conspicuous or clearly noticeable. The puzzle uses that second meaning, placing it with CLEAR, MARKED, and STRIKING. TechRadar also singled out PRONOUNCED as the tempting word that did not belong in the stated group.
