What are the two new Tomb Raider games?
Amazon Game Studios and Crystal Dynamics announced both titles at The Game Awards in December 2025, framing them as complementary experiences: one returns to Lara’s first adventure, while the other tells a new story. The reveal was also positioned around the franchise’s 30th anniversary — PlayStation Blog, 2025. The official Tomb Raider announcement quoted Crystal Dynamics studio creative director Noah Hughes saying the games are intended to appeal to longtime fans and new players.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
Legacy of Atlantis revisits the 1996 original. Amazon Game Studios’ Global Head of Content and Community Michael Lovan described it as “a complete reimagining” in a PlayStation Blog post published June 2, 2026. It is co-developed by Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog and built in Unreal Engine 5. The announcement says environments have been expanded and exploration, combat, and puzzles modernized; it does not frame the game as a simple remaster.
Tomb Raider: Catalyst
Catalyst is a new adventure rather than a remake. According to the official Tomb Raider announcement, Lara travels across Northern India after a mythical cataclysm awakens ancient forces. The reveal describes a large world of wilderness and ruins, but does not provide a firm release date in that announcement.

When does Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis come out?
The PlayStation Blog lists Legacy of Atlantis for February 12, 2027 on PS5. The stated date for Japan, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand is February 13, 2027. These are the regional dates given in the June 2, 2026 PlayStation Blog announcement.
PlayStation Store pre-orders are live, according to that post. It does not establish availability through Amazon or confirm a physical edition.

What platforms is Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis on?
The official Tomb Raider FAQ lists Legacy of Atlantis for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. The cited platform list is specific to Legacy of Atlantis; a complete platform list for Catalyst has not been established in the cited announcements.
Is Tomb Raider: Catalyst coming out in 2027 or 2028?
The original official announcement gave Catalyst a 2027 release window. In July 2026, PC Gamer reported remarks from Amazon Games general manager Jeffrey Gattis indicating that the game would follow Legacy of Atlantis in 2028. Because the later timing is reported remarks and the cited sources do not establish a subsequent formal schedule update, 2028 should be treated as an indication—not a confirmed release year. PC Gamer’s report notes the earlier 2027 announcement.

The clearest distinction is familiarity versus a fresh story: Legacy of Atlantis reworks Lara’s origin adventure, while Catalyst introduces a new setting and premise. The available announcements provide a firmer date and platform list for Legacy of Atlantis than for Catalyst.
