Its biggest compromise for returning players is the format: goals in the remade parks use a standardized two-minute run, changing the freer feel associated with the original THPS 4. The result is appealing for fans who want familiar skating with more ways to play, but less of a straight revival for anyone hoping to revisit the originals unchanged.
What’s in the remake?
Released July 11, 2025, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is an action-sports game developed by Iron Galaxy and Demonware. Activision says it rebuilds parks from both originals with 4K support, adds three new parks, combines veteran and new skaters, and includes additional tricks. Its modes range from Career and Single Sessions to Speedruns, Free Skate, competitive multiplayer and the new HAWK mode. Activision’s product page and edition and feature FAQ describe the official lineup.
How does it compare with the originals?
The two-minute goal format changes the feel
The clearest departure is the structure of the parks. Xbox Wire says the remade parks use streamlined goals and an “epic 2-minute format.” That gives returning players a consistent, timed session format across the collection, but it also means THPS 4 is not represented with the same freer structure that distinguished the original. This is a meaningful change, not just a visual refresh. Xbox Wire’s feature coverage also describes the creation tools and multiplayer additions.
Familiar skating, updated presentation
Reviews generally identify the controls and skating as a strength, while opinions differ on how much the package adds beyond the remade content. TechRadar’s PS5 review praised the fluid mechanics and new levels, including Pinball. The reviewer disclosed 13 hours and 30 minutes of play on a base PS5 in Fidelity Mode; that is their reported review time, not a completion-time estimate for every player. Read TechRadar’s review.

Tom’s Guide likewise praised the visuals and familiar, smooth, responsive controls, but judged the new objectives and features limited. That makes the game’s appeal depend partly on what you want from a remake: the core skating and a larger package, or a more substantial reworking of its goals. Tom’s Guide’s review gives its full assessment.
The soundtrack is not a complete return
Players should not expect every song from the original games to return. Tom’s Guide reported that developers secured rights to ten songs from roughly 55 tracks across the originals. That number is the outlet’s account, not an official publisher tally, and the practical point is that the remake’s soundtrack selection differs from the originals.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 worth playing?
For players who want the classic skating feel in a visually refreshed package, with more parks, creation tools and cross-platform multiplayer, the remake has a clear appeal. The trade-off is that it does not reproduce every element of the originals: the two-minute goals reshape how THPS 4 plays, and the soundtrack is a selection rather than a full return. Reviews support the strengths of its controls and presentation, but also raise fair questions about how much new content and variety the remake adds. Whether that balance works for you comes down to valuing familiar skating and expanded options over a closer, more complete recreation.
