The free Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter Demo, also called the Prologue Demo, lets you play the remake’s prologue and early quests in Liberl. It is available on Nintendo Switch, PS5 and Steam, and you can continue your demo save in the full game after updating it. The demo previews Estelle and Joshua’s early story, field exploration and both combat styles; official pages do not give a completion-time estimate.
What does the Prologue Demo include?
The official demo page describes the prologue and assorted early quests. The US PlayStation Store listing provides a more detailed content breakdown: the playable area is the Rolent region, with four dungeons, seven main events, eight optional subquests, NPC conversations and a boss fight. Players can control Estelle, Joshua and Scherazard. The listing cautions that some specifications may differ from the final game.

That list describes the demo’s content, not its length. Neither the official demo page nor the PlayStation listing provides an estimated completion time, so there is no official playtime figure to use.
What can you try before buying the full game?
The opening follows Estelle and Joshua as they work toward becoming bracers, introducing the Liberl setting and the pair’s early adventures. The demo also includes both styles of play: real-time action on the field and turn-based combat. The full game’s Steam description likewise identifies both combat systems and says the story develops into a conspiracy in Liberl.

This makes the demo a useful introduction to the remake’s opening, story setup and combat mix. It is not a preview of the entire game: the listed playable content is confined to Rolent and early events. No hands-on performance comparison or technical test is established here.

The official demo page links to Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store and Steam. The PlayStation listing identifies the PS5 demo as free, offline and for one player. Storefront availability and details may vary by region; the linked PlayStation and Nintendo pages are US listings.

Choose the version that fits the platform you already use and the account you expect to use for the full game. The available information does not establish that one demo version runs faster, looks sharper or has different content from another.
How to transfer your demo save
The official instructions say the demo save can be continued in the full game. Update the full game to its latest version first. On PS5 and Nintendo Switch, use the same account for the demo and full game.

PS5 trophy progress cannot be earned by transferring the demo save. The official instructions do not say that other platforms carry trophy or achievement progress, so do not assume they do.

The PS5 demo listing gives August 21, 2025 as the demo’s release date. The full game released September 19, 2025, according to its Steam listing and Nintendo’s US listing. Nintendo lists versions for Switch and Switch 2, with Switch 2 support described as behaving consistently with Switch; those are full-game listing details, not a guarantee about every demo build.
